A fruit shop in Hillview is appealing for a man to come forward after he was allegedly caught on closed-circuit television footage (CCTV) taking at least four packets of Musang King durians without paying on two occasions.

The shop, identified as Pawfect Fruit, shared footage of the incidents on its Facebook page.

The first clip shows a man believed to be between 60 and 70 years old inside the Hillview store at around 1.40pm on Friday (Oct 2).

He appears to take two packs of Musang King durians, put them in a bag and leaves without paying.

Another clip, dated Sept 3 and timestamped at around 4.30pm, shows the same man in a dark-coloured shirt appearing to do the same thing.

The shop also said in its post that the man had allegedly taken durians on more than one occasion and that its team is investigating the incident.

It also urged him to come forward by 5pm on Sunday, failing which it would file a police report.

The shop added in its caption: "We sincerely urge our customers to treat our business with respect as we are operating with a genuine mission to reduce food waste and promote fruit-eating culture.

"Please help to spread awareness to prevent such incident for happening again."

Chen (transliterated), the 36-year-old manager of Pawfect Fruit, told Shin Min Daily News that the staff had reviewed the CCTV footage after discovering two packs of durian missing from the shelves.

"The man took a total of four packs of Musang King durian, but we don't know if he had taken anything else previously. The shop is currently conducting a more thorough investigation," he added.

AsiaOne has contacted Pawfect Fruits for more information.
