Prime Minister Anutin set to Perform the job he truly is passionate about – Singing

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is set to share the stage with the newly America’s Got Talent crowned teenager – Nene Royal at the Government House to the delegates attending the World Bank – IMF (International Monetary Fund) meeting later next week.

Nene Royal is scheduled to perform for over 400 international dignitaries at Thailand’s official reception for the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings on October 14, 2026.

Anutin will be performing as a special guest with Nene likely singing 2-3 songs at the Santi Maitri Building inside Government House. The event aims to demonstrate Thailand’s hosting readiness while showcasing Thai talent and culture on a global stage.

The reception will feature a rich cultural lineup, including performances by National Artists, the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre, and the Sorkrao Symphony Orchestra, along with decorative lighting and a youth creative exhibition.

Guests will also be treated to a four-course dinner featuring authentic Thai dishes made with quality domestic ingredients, such as cho muang dumplings, tom yum prawn soup, massaman curry, and tub tim krob.

People continue to Suffer amid rise in prices of food amid floods

Flooding has doubled prices for several vegetables at Krabi’s Maharaj market, with further increases expected during the upcoming Vegetarian Festival.

Prices of Morning glory now costs 100 Baht per kilogram, up from 50–60 Baht, while Thai basil has doubled to 160 Baht.

Vendors say customers are buying less, and prices could remain elevated for another one to two months as farms recover.

The Department of Internal Trade is sourcing vegetables and eggs from unaffected areas to ease shortages. It has asked egg producers to maintain farm-gate prices at 4 Baht per egg, farmers to delay retiring laying hens and exporters to postpone shipments until December.

Jirawut Suwannach, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, reported that recent flooding has heavily damaged vegetable crops in provinces like Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom, and Chachoengsao, significantly reducing market supplies. To stabilize prices ahead of the upcoming Vegetarian Festival, the Ministry of Commerce is redirecting vegetable supplies from unaffected areas—such as Phetchabun and parts of Nakhon Ratchasima—to wholesale and fresh markets in and around Bangkok.

To offset the loss of roughly 3 million laying hens in flood-hit Chachoengsao, the department is sourcing eggs from unaffected regions and collaborating with the Department of Livestock Development to extend the culling age of layer hens to boost egg production by month’s end. Additional measures include pausing egg exports through December and asking large farms to cap farm-gate egg prices at 4 Baht. For post-flood recovery, discount “Blue Flag” shops will be rolled out to lower living costs, running October 9–18 in Bangkok and launching across provinces starting October 16 with 12 events per province.

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun stated that the ministry is tackling flood-induced vegetable shortages and price hikes by redirecting supply from Talaad Thai and Simummuang markets. Using a Single Command Center, the ministry is partnering with the Defense Ministry and heavy transport fleets to deliver fresh produce into hard-to-reach, flooded zones.

To control rising egg prices and secure domestic supply, the Department of Internal Trade has asked producers to cut egg exports by 30–50% and delay shipments for 2–3 weeks. Furthermore, mobile grocery vans are being deployed directly into flood-hit communities to supply residents with discounted daily essentials.

Nantapong Chiralerspong, Director General Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO), Ministry of Commerce, said that Thailand’s headline inflation accelerated to 2.82% year-on-year in September 2026, up from 2.53% in August, marking a five-month high. The surge was primarily driven by a 20.69% jump in domestic fuel prices stemming from Middle East supply concerns, alongside higher costs for prepared meals and fresh food impacted by volatile weather. Recent flooding is expected to have only a small impact on inflation.

In response, the Ministry of Commerce narrowed its full-year 2026 inflation forecast to 1.8%–2.2% (retaining a 2.0% midpoint), anticipating elevated energy costs and travel expenses to maintain mild inflationary pressure into the fourth quarter. Despite the acceleration, both headline and core inflation (1.50%) came in below market expectations and remained comfortably within the Bank of Thailand’s 1%–3% target range.

450 Baht Fee Collection from Tourists gets 80% Approval

Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, revealed that a recent public hearing showed 80.50% approval for the foreign tourist entry fee, commonly referred to as the landing fee. Under the proposed draft, foreign air travellers entering Thailand will be charged 450 Baht per person, while entry fees via land and sea routes will be deferred for one year.

The funds collected will be channelled into a transparently managed tourism promotion fund aimed at financing medical insurance for tourists and funding sustainable site development without relying solely on the annual state budget.

Net revenue from the fee, after deducting collection costs and insurance premiums, is projected to reach at least 8 billion Baht annually. These proceeds will be allocated toward preserving local natural resources, supporting community-based tourism, and upgrading infrastructure nationwide.

The establishment of this fund is vital for the future of the industry, adding that its oversight will eventually transition to the proposed new Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Oil Fuel Fund Now has 100 billion Baht Deficit

Energy Ministry sources revealed that Thailand’s Oil Fuel Fund deficit has crossed 100 billion Baht, forcing the fund to scale back domestic retail fuel price subsidies. Daily compensation payouts have been reduced from a peak of 700 million Baht to 375 million Baht, leading the Oil Fuel Fund Executive Committee to raise retail fuel prices by 0.75 Baht per liter. During the Middle East conflict, diesel subsidies alone reached 5–6 Baht per liter, draining over 20 billion Baht per month; cutting subsidy rates to 2–3 Baht per liter has halved the daily outflow.

To maintain liquidity and stabilize the fund, officials are preparing a new crisis response plan featuring three main proposals:

Increasing the refinery-gate price discount by 1–2 Baht.

Reduce the diesel excise tax by at least 2 Baht per liter ,currently set at 6 Baht per liter. Although the Ministry of Finance is reluctant to lose state revenue, the government must be willing to make appropriate revenue sacrifices given the current crisis—which is causing hardship for all parties—and the Oil Fuel Fund’s severe deficit.

Securing new ministry-guaranteed loans. Because the previous 20-billion-Baht borrowing limit is insufficient to cover a 100-billion-Baht deficit, a state-guaranteed loan framework—similar to the 100-billion-Baht package issued during the Russia-Ukraine war—is viewed as essential.

All proposed measures are currently awaiting official policy direction and formal approval from Energy Minister Akanat Promphan to establish the government’s official strategy for managing the energy crisis.

Recently the Oil Fuel Fund Executive Committee announced adjustments to fuel levy contributions and subsidy payouts while keeping retail pump prices unchanged. For diesel fuels, the subsidy for standard B7 diesel was reduced by 0.66 Baht to 2.00 Baht per liter (down from 2.66 Baht), while the B20 diesel subsidy was cut by 0.57 Baht to 6.25 Baht per liter (down from 6.82 Baht).

For gasoline and gasohol, the fund levy on pure gasoline increased by 0.06 Baht to 1.72 Baht per liter (up from 1.66 Baht). Meanwhile, subsidy payouts were trimmed across all gasohol blends: Gasohol 95 and 91 were reduced by 0.05 Baht to 4.84 Baht per liter, Gasohol E20 by 0.04 Baht to 7.85 Baht per liter, and Gasohol E85 by 0.02 Baht to 2.52 Baht per liter.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun to expedite trade negotiations with the United States following a letter from President Donald Trump. In the letter, President Trump expressed his desire to finalize and sign a bilateral tariff agreement during his upcoming visit to Asia in November. The deal is currently in its final stages, with a potential signing ceremony expected when the two leaders meet at either the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines or the APEC Summit in China.

Regarding trade negotiations between Thailand and the United States, both sides are currently working on an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART). Thailand aims to conclude the negotiations before the U.S. announces measures under Section 301 concerning structural excess capacity.

Previously, on September 30, 2026, Supajee provided information regarding the timeline for the U.S. announcement of the Section 301 investigation results on structural excess capacity, noting that the U.S. side had indicated the announcement was expected in October 2026.

On October 6, Franziska Ohnsorge, Chief Economist for East Asia and the Pacific at the World Bank, released the October 2026 report titled “Riding the AI Wave.” The report projects the regional economy to expand by 4.5% in 2026, primarily bolstered by a strong recovery in global supply chains for artificial intelligence and electronics.

For Thailand, the World Bank upgraded its 2026 GDP growth forecast by 0.7 percentage points to 2.0%, as robust exports of AI- and data-center-related goods offset the dampening effects of rising oil prices caused by Middle East conflicts. However, elevated energy costs pushed headline inflation to 2.2%, eroding real incomes, slowing private consumption, and stalling poverty reduction efforts despite state stimulus measures. Meanwhile, household debt concerns deepened, with non-performing loans rising and young borrowers under 25 experiencing the fastest credit growth. Strong import costs for energy and capital goods are expected to push Thailand’s current account into a 2.8% deficit despite a 17.8% surge in first-half exports.

The World Bank projects Thailand’s GDP growth to reach 2.3% in 2027 and 2.4% in 2028 as oil price pressures ease and new fiscal measures offset slowing private investment. Headline inflation is expected to drop to 1.0% by 2027, while public debt is forecasted to rise to 68.4% of GDP due to 400 billion Baht in off-budget spending for cost-of-living relief and energy transition.

Yesterday, the SET Index closed at 1,582.22 points, up 5.77 points (0.37%), with a trading value of 67,389.14 million Baht. The index traded in positive territory within a limited range, supported by two key sectors: electronic components—led by DELTA—following gains in overseas technology and AI stocks; and oil refineries—such as PTTGC, TOP, and IRPC—bolstered by high refining margins, which helped keep the index afloat. However, the market faced profit-taking pressure in the commercial banking sector after recent price rallies, preventing the index from gaining significant momentum.

For today, the index is expected to move sideways with limited upside potential, as US government bond yields remain high and the market lacks fresh domestic or international catalysts. Resistance levels are projected at 1,590–1,600 points, while support levels are set at 1,580–1,575 points.

Investors will be monitoring the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting scheduled for late October, as well as signals from Q3/2024 earnings results—particularly within the commercial banking sector—which are set to be released gradually during the second half of October.

Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO), projected that the SET Index in Q4/2026 could rise to the 1,650–1,700 point range if no new negative factors arise. Key supporting factors include easing pressure from Middle East tension, manageable domestic flood conditions, low Thai inflation, and steady local policy rates, alongside expected earnings growth for listed companies in Q3. Despite foreign net selling across markets due to elevated U.S. bond yields, Thailand remains the sole Asian stock market with net foreign buying.

Meanwhile, the FETCO Investor Confidence Index (ICI) survey for September 2026 indicates “bullish” confidence over the next three months at 148.72, driven primarily by capital inflows, government economic stimulus measures, and corporate performance. Conversely, international conflicts, potential Fed rate hikes, and Baht volatility stand as the main drags on sentiment, with foreign investor confidence reaching the “very bullish” zone.

Following the Cabinet’s approval of the public-private partnership (PPP) selection and draft contracts for Suvarnabhumi Airport’s third ground handling and cargo warehouse operator, Airports of Thailand (AOT) is set to sign two major contracts worth a combined 67.3 billion Baht. Announced by AOT President Paweena Jariyathitipong, these 25-year concessions with AOT Ground Services (AOTGA) are designed to bolster ground operations, handle rising flight and passenger volumes, and expand long-term air cargo capacity.

The overall investment is divided into two primary projects: a 29.39-billion Baht contract for ground handling, equipment, and passenger services, and a 37.91-billion Baht contract for cargo warehouse services. Fully funded by the private sector, both projects allocate capital toward initial infrastructure and equipment development alongside long-term operational and maintenance expenses over the 25-year period.

As for the parking facility project, operations are expected to commence as early as the beginning of 2027.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) postponed decisions on pending matters during its October 6 meeting after responsible officials failed to attend and provide necessary briefings. The six commissioners, who selected Suphat Suphachalasai to chair meetings, reviewed five informational items and agreed to reconvene on October 8. Officials’ absence prevented informed decisions on international telecom affairs, negotiations, and administrative court cases, while financial researcher Sarinee Achavanuntakul accused acting secretary-general Trairat Viriyasirikul of ignoring the board’s majority.

The postponement stems from an ongoing dispute regarding whether Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck can continue as NBTC chairman following a Central Administrative Court ruling on September 25 that upheld a selection committee decision against his entitlement to the post. Former senior Supreme Court judge Wat Tingsamit noted that Sarana faces a daily administrative fine of 50,000 Baht to compel compliance with an order to step down. Wat also warned that officials refusing to support properly convened board meetings risk removal and legal liability for failing to perform their duties.

Only if Someone Files a Case will DSI Investigate Scam & Gambling

Thailand’s Justice Minister Rutthapol Naowarat came out to say that the allegations of Bhumjai Thai party’s MP from Chumpon – Suchada Zhang Thaensap, husband was operating an online gambling and that the Department of Special Investigations (DSI) cannot investigate because Suchada Zhang Thaensap’s husband has the company registered in Curacao, where the online gambling is a legal entity base.

The issue was raised by party list MP from People’s Party – Rangsiman Rome, concerning potential links between online scam networks and the husband of Bhumjai Thai Party MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap.

The minister noted that the matter is split into two tracks: asset disclosures, which have already been submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for official review, and criminal allegations regarding online gambling and scam networks.

Minister Rutthapol urged anyone with concrete evidence to submit an official complaint, reassuring the public that the Ministry of Justice is ready to act swiftly on domestic violations and coordinate with international agencies if cross-border offenses are identified.

Criticism of Minister of Justice is Swift and Nasty

Justice Minister Rutthapol Naowarat’s comments about not investigating if no complaints from Thais were filed while the wife of the owner of the online gambling which can be accessed from Thailand, is a sitting MP in Thai parliament, is something that is unacceptable.

Loosely translated the graphic below says “Now the entire country knows what your husband does from the mouth of Minister of Justice, it is really disgusting to see such words”.

Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, a key leader of People’s Party, came out to also criticize the statement by the Minister of Justice (this is the translated version of the post by Wiroj).

Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, stated that MP Suchada Zhang Thaensap has provided an initial clarification to the party denying any involvement in scammer networks.

Addressing questions regarding her NACC asset disclosures—specifically loans extended to a now-bankrupt foreign company—he noted that Suchada will clarify the details herself, while confirming her full readiness to cooperate with official investigations and abide by legal outcomes.

Reflecting on her past role on his working team, Chaichanok expressed confidence in her innocence, emphasizing that no evidence links her to illicit activities and that her name never appeared during previous anti-scammer crackdowns. He maintained that he will believe in her integrity until proven otherwise by concrete evidence.

House Speaker Sophon Zarum addressed opposition concerns regarding potential tactics to block a no-confidence motion, reassuring the public that he respects all parliamentary roles as defined by law and rules. He dismissed claims of interference, stating that blocking motions is neither planned nor beneficial, especially as legislature aims to avoid further political conflict and ensure all parties act strictly within their constitutional authority.

When asked about future debates, Sophon emphasized that any compliant motion will proceed without restriction. He encouraged the opposition to submit their motion without worry, assuring that as long as it adheres to parliamentary rules and regulations, the Speaker cannot and will not block it.

Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut said that the People’s Party plans to submit a no-confidence motion against the government, aiming for a parliamentary debate in October or early November at the latest. Several ministers will face scrutiny, their names remain undisclosed until the motion is filed. The debate will focus on targeting the “blue regime” over alleged involvement in Senate election fraud and influence over independent oversight bodies, alongside issues such as flood management failures and links to illicit business interests.

Speaking at Thammasat University during the 50th anniversary commemoration of the October 6, 1976 events, Natthaphong argued that Thailand has rarely experienced full democracy, as authoritarianism has shifted from military power to political control and lawfare under the 2017 Constitution. To restore effective checks and balances on state power, he advocated for constitutional reform and legal action against those implicated in Senate election rigging.

Pheu Thai Party members, led by party-list MP Chaturon Chaisang, attended the 50th-anniversary commemoration of the October 6, 1976 massacre at Thammasat University’s Tha Phra Chan campus. The delegation laid a wreath at the memorial site to honor the victims during a ceremony that included alms offerings to 19 monks, a moment of silence, and a reading of the names of those killed in the crackdown.

Senior party figure Phumtham Wechayachai, a former student activist involved in the 1973 and 1976 pro-democracy movements, emphasized that political differences must never justify violence and cautioned that repeated military coups continuously force Thailand to restart its democratic development.

Yesterday, Thamanat Prompow posted on Facebook expressing his happiness as his eldest son graduated with First-Class Honors from Mahidol University International College (MUIC). The post garnered a large number of congratulatory comments from supporters and well-wishers across social media.

His son, Simanat Prompow, completed his bachelor’s degree in Media and Communication at the international college, marking a significant educational achievement for the family.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has placed all southern provinces of Thailand on high alert due to forecasted heavy rainfall through October 14. Relevant authorities, emergency units, and local agencies have been instructed to prepare response measures, closely track weather developments, and ensure immediate assistance can be deployed to high-risk areas.

The prolonged period of heavy downpours poses a heightened risk of flash floods, runoff, and landslides across vulnerable southern communities. Residents in affected regions are urged to stay informed through official announcements and take necessary precautions to protect life and property throughout the alert period.

The Cabinet has officially expanded its disaster-relief coverage to include flood-affected areas in Samut Songkhram province. This decision comes after new flooding occurred in the province following an earlier cabinet resolution on September 29, which had established the initial relief plan. Financial assistance for Samut Songkhram residents will be drawn from the previously approved 4.7-billion-Baht emergency budget set aside for flood victims.

Spokesman Ekkaphop Phianphiset stated that ministers reviewed the overall flood situation and evaluated the progress of relief and compensation measures across various government bodies. Additionally, the Cabinet instructed relevant ministries to coordinate seamlessly and prepare post-flood recovery plans to ensure swift rehabilitation once water levels recede.

Unsit Sampuntharat, Permanent Secretary for Interior, revealed that the Ministry of Interior—through the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM)—has begun transferring flood relief payments in accordance with the Cabinet resolution from September 29. On October 6, the DDPM had received data from the provinces and forwarded it to the Government Savings Bank for transfer; the data covers a total of 611 households across two provinces: 594 households in Sa Kaeo and 17 households in Krabi. The funds are expected to be credited to the flood victims’ accounts by the morning of Thursday, October 8.

The Bang Kapi District Office issued an urgent warning advising residents to keep their belongings on elevated ground due to rising canal water levels. Households were instructed not to move their valuables back down yet and to stay vigilant regarding the risk of floodwaters overflowing into local neighborhoods. Meanwhile, drainage officials are actively managing water levels in main canals across Bangkok to mitigate potential overflow.

The advisory comes as the Thai Meteorological Department reported light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy downpours, moving across Bangkok and surrounding provinces toward Samut Prakan and the Gulf of Thailand.

Flooding at a large farm in Mueang Prachin Buri district resulted in the deaths of approximately 2,000 pigs, prompting Agriculture Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit to order a rapid response. More than 50 officials, utilizing heavy machinery and boats, are working to clear the carcasses, with full retrieval expected by Wednesday if weather permits.

The recovered pig carcasses are being transported to higher ground in Kabin Buri district for proper burial, while officials conduct thorough disinfections of the affected farm to prevent disease outbreaks and public health risks. Concurrently, authorities are evaluating total losses to provide official disaster relief to impacted livestock farmers.

Health officials inspecting a care home in Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi, on October 6 discovered that the facility was operating as an unlicensed medical establishment. Housing 100 residents despite being licensed for only 50 beds, the facility catered to 92 psychiatric patients and featured unauthorized building alterations, including beds enclosed with metal bars—which the owner claimed were used temporarily for aggressive patients to prevent self-harm.

Mental health personnel will evaluate the patients to transfer those requiring higher levels of care, while authorities investigate allegations of physical assault, illegal confinement, forced drugging, and dubious treatment records.

Public Health Minister Pattana Promphat stated that closing the home remains a distinct possibility depending on the official findings, as officials review how the facility successfully obtained and renewed its license in August.

Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC) has addressed public concerns regarding a potential plague incident in Russia, reassuring the public that the transmission risk to Thailand remains low. The statement follows news of a 28-year-old laboratory technician at a research institute in Irkutsk who died of severe lung inflammation on September 29.

DDC Director-General Dr. Montien Kanasawat clarified that laboratory tests have not confirmed Yersinia pestis (the bacterium causing plague) as the cause of death, and none of the nearly 200 close contacts identified have shown any symptoms. The situation remains localized, with no evidence of human-to-human transmission or community-wide outbreak in Russia. The World Health Organization (WHO) has not issued any travel warnings or health advisories. As a result, Thai public health authorities concluded that special screening measures or international travel restrictions for incoming flights are currently unnecessary.
