Educational institutions in Melaka, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, and Putrajaya will resume normal operations due to improved air quality, while some schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor remain closed.

Schools under the Sentul and Keramat District Education Offices will reopen as API levels dropped, but Bangsar/Pudu schools stay shut with PdPR continuing due to unhealthy API readings.

The respective education departments recommend monitoring official updates on air quality and school operations, with precautions advised for those with respiratory symptoms.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Putrajaya, as well as several areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, will resume normal operations tomorrow.

In KUALA LUMPUR, the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department said MOE educational institutions under the Sentul and Keramat District Education Offices (PPDs) would reopen tomorrow, following a decline in Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the areas for three consecutive days.

“The latest reading was at a moderate level, with an API of 84 recorded at the CA15W Batu Muda station as of 2pm today. As such, the implementation of Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) and the Work From Home (WFH) directive for these areas has been terminated,” JPWPKL said in a statement.

However, JPWPKL said schools under the Bangsar/Pudu PPD would remain closed until further notice, as air quality remained at an unhealthy level, with an API reading of 152 recorded at the CA16W Cheras station during the same period.

It said that to ensure continuity of teaching and learning, PdPR and the WFH directive for teachers and Implementing Group Staff (AKP) under the Bangsar/Pudu PPD would continue.

In SELANGOR, the Selangor Education Department (JPNS) said all schools under the administration of the Hulu Langat, Gombak and Petaling Perdana PPDs would remain closed based on the latest API readings.

In a statement, JPNS also said all schools in other districts in the state would operate as usual tomorrow.

“Teachers and parents are advised to follow official updates from the authorities on developments in air quality and relevant school operation directives.

“Further information on school operations and reopening will be announced through the official channels of the MOE and JPNS,” the statement said.

In MELAKA, schools will resume normal operations tomorrow, as air quality readings remained at moderate levels below 100, according to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) as of 2pm, with Alor Gajah recording 91, Bukit Rambai 94 and Bandaraya Melaka 96.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the Negeri Sembilan Education Department also said all MOE educational institutions would operate as usual tomorrow based on the latest air quality monitoring.

It also advised students experiencing respiratory symptoms or those in high-risk groups to wear face masks as a precautionary measure.

In PAHANG, the Pahang Education Department also said all schools in the state would operate as usual tomorrow, with the haze situation and API readings being continuously monitored from time to time through the respective PPDs.

In PUTRAJAYA, the Putrajaya Federal Territory Education Department (JPWPP) said all schools under its administration would operate as usual tomorrow, following API readings remaining below the 150 threshold.

According to JPWPP, analysis of API readings showed a consistent decline over the past three days, with the API standing at 70 as of 2pm today. — Bernama
