Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Trade) Gan Kim Yong is on a three-day visit to India from Oct 13 to 15.

DPM Gan's visit will cover New Delhi on Oct 13 to 14, and Chennai on Oct 15, the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry (METI) said in a news release on Tuesday (Oct 13).

"The visit will reaffirm Singapore’s longstanding and multifaceted bilateral relationship with India," METI said.

While in New Delhi, DPM Gan will meet with senior government officials and business leaders.

He will also participate in the 8th Bloomberg New Economy Forum and speak on a panel on how countries are moving towards self-sufficiency globally.

The deputy prime minister is a member of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum advisory board.

Founded in 2018, the high-level global platform is intended to unite public and private sector leaders to address critical economic transitions and global prosperity challenges.

In Chennai, DPM Gan will engage business leaders from both Chennai and Singapore.

He will also meet representatives from ITE Education Services, which is implementing the National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing, a bilateral project under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.

Tamil Nadu, India's second-largest state economy and a major industrial hub, is an important economic partner for Singapore. Singapore companies are active in sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy, real estate and digital services.

DPM Gan will be accompanied by officials from METI, the Singapore Economic Development Board, and Enterprise Singapore.
