砂拉越教育局:若API超过100,学校明日开学,户外活动暂停

Sarawak schools will remain open tomorrow, but outdoor activities will be halted if the Air Pollutant Index exceeds 100.

Students are advised to wear face masks, and parents can opt out of sending children to school due to health concerns.

Previously, schools in Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu temporarily closed, moving to home-based learning.

KUCHING, Oct 14 — All schools and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Sarawak will operate as usual tomorrow, despite the ongoing haze affecting several areas in the state.

In a statement today, the Sarawak Education Department (JPN) said schools in areas where the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading exceeded 100 must suspend all outdoor activities.

“Students attending school are encouraged to wear face masks as a precautionary measure amid the current haze situation.

“Parents and guardians may choose not to send their children to school if they have concerns about their health due to the haze affecting several locations in Sarawak, provided they inform the school,” the statement said.

Yesterday, the department announced the temporary closure of all primary and secondary schools under the Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu District Education Offices (PPD), with Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) implemented during the closure. — Bernama
