AKPS officer allegedly killed by husband was in divorce proceedings, says brother

The family of Norhazwani Ibrahim, a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency officer allegedly murdered by her husband, is deeply troubled by her death.

Her brother Amran confirmed Norhazwani, who was in the process of divorce, had been fatally stabbed at their staff residence.

The suspect, recently released from prison, surrendered to police following the incident.

Norhazwani's two children are currently under the care of another family member, while police continue their investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

NILAI, Oct 16 — The family of a Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer who was allegedly murdered by her husband at a staff residential complex near Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is struggling to come to terms with her death, her eldest brother said.

According to Sinar Harian , Amran Ibrahim, 59, said he initially could not believe the news that his youngest sister, Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, had been stabbed to death, allegedly by her husband.

He said he received a call from another brother at about 7.30pm yesterday informing him that Norhazwani had been killed and that her husband had surrendered to police.

Amran said he then contacted the police station, which confirmed that his sister had died after being stabbed.

He described Norhazwani, the youngest of nine siblings, as a cheerful person who rarely shared her problems with the family.

However, the family knew she had been experiencing marital problems and was in the process of divorcing her husband, he said, according to the Malay daily.

Amran also said Norhazwani’s husband had been released from prison a few days earlier after serving time for a drug-related offence.

A day before the incident, another brother who lives in Kelantan had stayed overnight at Norhazwani’s home. Amran said the couple appeared to be on normal terms, and his brother had advised them to maintain their relationship and avoid arguments.

Norhazwani and her husband had been married for seven years and had two children, aged five and six. The children are now being cared for by another sister in Kelantan, he reportedly said.

Amran told Sinar Harian that the family was deeply saddened by the incident and would leave the investigation and any further action to the police.

The victim’s body was taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for further procedures. Amran said the family had been informed that a post-mortem would be conducted on Saturday morning, after which her remains would be taken to her hometown in Kelantan for burial.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad had earlier confirmed the incident, saying police received information about it at about 8.30pm yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

阿姆兰还说，诺哈兹瓦尼的丈夫几天前因涉毒犯罪服刑后获释。

事发前一天，住在吉兰丹的另一位兄弟曾在诺哈兹瓦尼家过夜。阿姆兰说，这对夫妇看起来关系正常，他的兄弟曾劝他们维持这段关系，避免争吵。

据报道，诺哈兹瓦尼和她的丈夫结婚七年，育有两个孩子，分别五岁和六岁。她说，孩子们现在由她在吉兰丹的另一个姐姐照顾。

阿姆兰告诉《阳光日报》，家人对这起事件深感悲痛，并将调查和任何进一步行动交由警方处理。

受害者的遗体被送往芙蓉的端姑嘉法医院进行进一步处理。阿姆兰表示，家属已被告知将于周六上午进行尸检，之后遗体将被送回其位于吉兰丹的家乡安葬。

森美兰州警察总长拿督阿尔扎夫尼·艾哈迈德早前已证实了这起事件，称警方于昨日晚上8点30分左右接到有关该事件的情报。

该案件正在根据《刑法》第302条进行调查。
