待选州议员暗示砂拉越选举可能在12月12日或12月19日举行。

Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong anticipates that the forthcoming Sarawak state election will occur on December 12 or 19, 2027.

She expressed this belief during the concluding remarks of her debate on the State Budget at the State Legislative Assembly sitting.

While the DUN Speaker previously announced that this session would be the last of the current term, the official dissolution date has not yet been confirmed.

The current legislative term is set to expire in February next year.

KUCHING, Oct 16 — Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong believes the next Sarawak election will be held either on December 12 or December 19, this year.

She made the remarks when concluding her debate speech on the State Budget 2027 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

“Until we meet again in the next term of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) after the state election, which is going to be held soon and my guess is on the 12th or 19th of December,” she told the DUN.

When asked to clarify what had triggered her to make such remarks, the Sarawak DAP Secretary said it was her way to say “Thank You” to the Deputy Speaker Dato Idris Buang for presiding over the session.

On Sept 22, DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar told reporters that this DUN session would be the last of the current term, paving the way for the next state election.

However, the date for the dissolution of the DUN has yet to be announced.
