The Health Ministry in Malaysia is set to rebrand its PeKa B40 healthcare initiative as PeKa Sihat, with enhancements aimed at improving effectiveness and reducing overcrowding at public health clinics.

The Cabinet has approved changes that focus on tackling non-communicable diseases by utilizing participating clinics to ease the burden on public facilities.

Further details regarding the rebranded program will be announced by the Health Ministry.

Launched in 2019, PeKa B40 supports the healthcare needs of low-income groups and is administered by ProtectHealth Corporation under the Health Ministry.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The Health Ministry’s PeKa B40 healthcare programme will be rebranded as PeKa Sihat, with changes aimed at making the initiative more effective and easing congestion at public health clinics, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said today.

He said the Cabinet had agreed to the proposed amendments to the programme, which focuses on addressing non-communicable diseases.

“The Cabinet has agreed to the proposed amendments to the PeKa B40 programme under the Health Ministry, taking into account of its effectiveness in tackling non-communicable diseases.

“The Health Ministry is coordinating several measures to make the programme more effective — including alleviating congestion at public health clinics by utilising participating clinics in the PeKa B40 initiative,” he said at the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing, which was broadcast live today.

Fahmi said the Health Ministry would announce further details of the rebranded PeKa Sihat programme.

PeKa B40 – or known in Malay as Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 – was launched in 2019 to support the healthcare needs of lower-income groups, with a focus on the early detection and management of non-communicable diseases.

The programme is administered by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia, which operates under the Health Ministry.
