Police operations in Selangor from October 13 to 19 uncovered drug trafficking activities at an unregistered house of worship in Klang, leading to the arrest of a local man.

The raid seized 20.6 kg of heroin, along with various drugs and cash valued at RM16.2 million across multiple locations.

In related operations, seven arrests were made in Rawang and at KLIA, involving both local and foreign individuals.

Additionally, police are investigating the abuse of a foreign domestic helper, believed to be related to theft from her employer.

SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — Police uncovered drug trafficking at an unregistered house of worship in Klang during operations across Selangor from Oct 13 to 19.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said a local man who worked part-time as an assistant at the house of worship was detained to assist the investigation.

“A raid led to the discovery of 20.6 kilogrammes (kg) of heroin inside the storage room of the house of worship. Investigations are ongoing. We do not rule out that the premises were used to store drugs.

“Checks also revealed that the temple is unregistered and the land is gazetted as a site for sewerage,” he told a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters here today.

In separate raids in Rawang and at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), police arrested seven individuals, comprising two local men, a local woman, three foreign men and a foreign woman, Shazeli said.

He said the individuals, aged between 19 and 48, had no prior criminal records except one local man with seven previous offences.

He added that the operations seized 81.3 kg of cannabis buds, 37 kg of ganja, one bottle and 3,510 cartridges of ketamine, 84 bottles of ecstasy, and 25.4 kg of ketamine.

“The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at RM16.2 million. Police also confiscated two cars, a motorcycle, and local and foreign currencies totalling RM54,835,” he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In a separate case, Shazeli said suspected theft is believed to be the motive behind the abuse of a foreign domestic helper, who suffered burn injuries on her body.

He said investigations found the victim had been working for her employer since late last year.

“Investigations are currently being completed. It is believed the incident occurred because the victim was suspected of stealing and damaging her employer’s property,” he said.

It was reported that three women were among five individuals remanded for four days to assist in the investigation. — Bernama
