Police confirm RM27.5m drug syndicate crippled with main suspect shot dead

The Royal Malaysia Police's Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department dismantled a drug syndicate producing RM27.5 million worth of MDMA in Seremban and Kuala Lumpur.

The main suspect was shot dead during a raid after aggressively firing at the police, and the operation revealed a drug lab in a rented house.

Police arrested two individuals in separate raids, seized three cars, and believe the bust could prevent drugs from reaching over 400,000 users.

SEREMBAN, Sept 7 — The Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) crippled a drug processing syndicate suspected of producing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) worth a total of RM27.5 million in this district and Kuala Lumpur in Op Thrips yesterday.

Bukit Aman NCID director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said in the raid, the 52-year-old main suspect was shot dead after he acted aggressively by firing shots at the raiding team at a terraced house in this district at about 1.30 pm.

He said the house rented by the suspect had been used as a laboratory to process the drugs since early this year, adding that police seized suspected MDMA comprising 64.49 kilogrammes (kg) of liquid, 5.2kg of drug lumps, 7.9kg of drug pills, 104.8kg of drug powder, as well as various drug-processing equipment.

“We believe the suspect obtained the drugs with the assistance of other syndicate members by bringing in drug-processing precursors from abroad.

“The suspect who was shot dead also had the expertise to process these chemicals into MDMA or ecstasy,” he said at a press conference at the Seremban district police headquarters (IPD) here today.

It was believed that the suspect had extensive experience, as his involvement in drug-related activities had been detected since the 1990s, in addition to having three previous arrest and imprisonment records under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Hussein said the main suspect was also wanted under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961, in addition to having a previous criminal record under Section 448 of the Penal Code.

He added that the syndicate’s modus operandi was to use residential areas with low population density as locations for processing and distributing drugs to conceal their activities from the authorities.

Hussein said the drugs were believed to be intended for the local and overseas markets, while police were now actively tracking down several more suspects believed to have fled abroad.

Meanwhile, he said police also conducted two separate raids in Seremban 2 and at a house in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, which led to the arrest of a 32-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man.

Both the woman and man tested positive for methamphetamine and THC, respectively, and both had various previous criminal records, including drug-related offences. They were remanded for seven days until Sept 13.

Hussein said police also seized three cars and that the case was being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said the seizure could indirectly curb the distribution of drugs to more than 400,000 users. — Bernama

芙蓉，9月7日讯——马来西亚皇家警察（PDRM）毒品刑事调查部（NCID）昨日在“蓟马行动”（Op Thrips）中捣毁了一个涉嫌在芙蓉和吉隆坡制造价值2750万令吉亚甲二氧基甲基苯丙胺（MDMA）的毒品加工集团。

武吉阿曼国家犯罪调查局局长拿督侯赛因·奥马尔·汗表示，在这次突袭行动中，52岁的主要嫌疑人在下午1点30分左右在该地区一栋排屋内向突袭小组开枪，表现出攻击性，随后被击毙。

他说，嫌疑人租住的房子从今年年初开始就被用作制毒实验室，并补充说，警方缴获了疑似MDMA的64.49公斤液体、5.2公斤块状毒品、7.9公斤药丸、104.8公斤粉末状毒品，以及各种制毒设备。

“我们认为嫌疑人通过从国外进口制毒前体，并在其他犯罪团伙成员的协助下获得了毒品。

“被击毙的嫌疑人还具备将这些化学品加工成MDMA（摇头丸）的专业技能，”他今天在芙蓉警区总部举行的新闻发布会上说。

据信该嫌疑人经验丰富，因为他自 20 世纪 90 年代以来就被发现参与毒品相关活动，此外，他还曾因违反 1952 年《危险药物法》第 39B 条而被逮捕和监禁三次。

侯赛因表示，主要嫌疑人除了有《刑法》第 448 条规定的犯罪记录外，还因违反 1961 年《绑架法》第 3(1) 条而被通缉。

他还补充说，该犯罪集团的作案手法是利用人口密度低的居民区作为加工和分销毒品的地点，以掩盖其活动，逃避当局的侦查。

侯赛因表示，这些毒品据信是要销往本地和海外市场，警方目前正在积极追捕几名据信已逃往国外的嫌疑人。

与此同时，他表示，警方还在芙蓉 2 区和吉隆坡古仔路的一处房屋进行了两次突击搜查，逮捕了一名 32 岁女子和一名 35 岁男子。

该女子和该男子分别被检测出甲基苯丙胺和四氢大麻酚呈阳性，两人均有多项犯罪前科，包括涉毒犯罪。他们被还押候审七天，至9月13日。
