Korean food chain Seoul Yummy will close its last remaining outlet at Kallang Wave Mall on Oct 22. The homegrown brand was established in 2008 and previously operated outlets at locations including Ion Orchard, Bugis+ and Marina Square. It is one of the F&B brands under Gratify Group, which also operates the popular South Korean pizza chain Pizza Maru in Singapore.

Responding to queries from CNA Lifestyle, Frank Lau, founder and CEO of Gratify Group, said the company has been "progressively closing" its Seoul Yummy outlets in Singapore as their leases expire.

"We decided to focus our efforts on growing other brands and concepts in Gratify Group to stay competitive and relevant to changing consumer preferences," Lau added.

He clarified that the Kallang Wave Mall outlet closure is due to the mall's ongoing asset enhancement initiative .

"We have decided it’s a good time to sunset the brand," said Lau, adding that affected employees will be transferred to other brands within Gratify Group.
