New animated film to reunite Fann Wong and Christopher Lee on big screen for first time in 17 years

Christopher Lee and Fann Wong reunite after 17 years to voice the emperor and empress respectively in the upcoming Singaporean animated film Library of Mystory.

The film, set in a world inspired by the Tang dynasty, follows the adventures of Cheng Xi, a young prince.

Library of Mystory is independently produced by Movitoir Studios, featuring local talents and original music.

SINGAPORE - It has been 17 years since local celebrity power couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee last worked together on the big screen, in the romantic comedy film The Wedding Game (2009).

Soon, the married Singaporean actors will do so again, this time as animated characters. They will collaborate in an upcoming local 3D-styled animated feature film, titled Library Of Mystory , slated to be released in June 2027.

Singapore-based creative studio Movitoir Studios announced the news on Sept 5. In an Instagram post, it said the film will bring the two together for their first voice acting role in an animation film as a couple.

The pair, both 55, will take on animation voice acting alongside other local talents such as Clement Yeo, Lea Chong, Yokez, Leon Markcus, Timothy Wan, Alyssa Lie, Chia Dezhong, Audrey Luo, Bryan Ong, Michael Chua, Kelsey Tan and more.

The film, set in a world inspired by the Tang dynasty, is directed, written and self-funded by Singaporean author Chen Junhua, 43, who wrote the 2016 book of the same name. After almost 100 rejections from traditional studios, he established Movitoir Studios in 2026 to independently bring the long-held project to life.

In the film, Lee and Fann will play the role of an emperor and empress respectively. They are parents of lead character Cheng Xi (voiced by Clement Yeo), a carefree young prince who would rather spend his days on wrestling, archery, cuju (an ancient Chinese ball game) and horseriding than prepare for his royal responsibilities.

With Cheng Xi’s birthday approaching and an imperial tradition requiring him to announce his chosen bride, the emperor and empress enroll him at Tanglin Academy, a prestigious school for young nobility. There, Cheng Xi meets Si Yu (Lea Chong), the intelligent and studious daughter of his lecturer, who is unimpressed by his royal status.

The unlikely pair eventually stumble upon the hidden Library o f Mystory and uncover an ancient secret that could change their destinies and the fate of the entire empire.

This is not Fann’s first voice acting role. She previously voiced the character of Snake in Singapore’s first 3D animated film Zodiac: The Race Begins (2006).

In a press release, the couple, who have been married since 2009, said: “This is our first time participating in animated voice acting together. For us, it has been a truly fresh and memorable experience. Being able to collaborate once again through our voices and portray the emperor and empress feels particularly special and meaningful.

“We were both drawn to the sincerity, imagination and bold creativity behind this project. It is also wonderful to see Singapore’s independent creators continuing to push boundaries and explore new possibilities for local animation.

“We feel truly honoured and excited to be part of this journey, and we hope audiences will enjoy stepping into this imaginative animated world.”

In the same release, Movitoir Studios said Lee and Fann were chosen because their experience, chemistry and interpretation bring warmth and personality to the emperor and empress – qualities which are central to the characters.

The studio also shared that the film will combine human performance and original music, with custom animation and rendering workflows developed by them.

The film will also feature 100 per cent human voice performances, professional singers and human-composed original music, with musical production undertaken in collaboration with Singapore recording studio Xing Studio’s Owenn Tan.

The production is expected to bring together industry professionals and emerging creative talent from the animation and games, as well as sound and music specialisations at Singapore Polytechnic’s Media, Arts & Design School and ITE College Central’s School of Design & Media.

这部电影以唐朝为背景，讲述了年轻王子程熙的冒险故事。

《我的故事图书馆》由 Movitoir Studios 独立制作，以当地人才和原创音乐为特色。

新加坡——距离本地明星夫妇范文芳和李铭顺上次在大银幕上合作，已经过去了17年，他们上次合作是在浪漫喜剧电影《婚礼游戏》（2009年）中。

不久之后，这对新加坡籍演员夫妇将再次合作，这次是以动画角色的身份。他们将共同出演一部即将上映的本地3D动画电影，名为《我的故事图书馆》（Library Of Mystory），预计将于2027年6月上映。

程熙的生日临近，按照皇室习俗，他必须宣布自己的婚事，于是皇帝和皇后将他送入唐林书院——一所专为年轻贵族设立的名校。在那里，程熙遇到了他的讲师的女儿司瑜（李冲饰），她聪颖好学，却对他的皇室身份毫不在意。

这对看似不可能的搭档最终偶然发现了隐藏的神秘历史图书馆，并揭开了一个古老的秘密，这个秘密可能会改变他们的命运以及整个帝国的命运。

这并非范冰冰首次担任配音演员。她此前曾在新加坡首部3D动画电影《十二生肖：赛跑开始》（2006年）中为蛇这一角色配音。

这对自2009年结婚的夫妇在新闻稿中表示：“这是我们第一次共同参与动画配音工作。对我们来说，这是一次真正新鲜而难忘的经历。能够再次通过我们的声音合作，共同塑造皇帝和皇后的形象，感觉格外特别和有意义。”

“我们都被这个项目背后的真诚、想象力和大胆的创造力所吸引。同时，看到新加坡的独立创作者们不断突破界限，探索本土动画的新可能性，也令人欣喜。”

“我们感到非常荣幸和兴奋能够参与到这段旅程中，我们希望观众们能够享受进入这个充满想象力的动画世界的过程。”

在同一份新闻稿中，Movitoir Studios 表示，之所以选择李连杰和范文芳，是因为他们的经验、默契和诠释为皇帝和皇后带来了温暖和个性——这些都是角色的核心特质。

该工作室还透露，这部电影将结合真人表演和原创音乐，以及他们开发的定制动画和渲染工作流程。

该片还将采用 100% 真人配音，由专业歌手演唱，并由真人创作原创音乐，音乐制作由新加坡录音棚 Xing Studio 的 Owenn Tan 参与完成。

预计该制作将汇集来自新加坡理工学院媒体、艺术与设计学院和ITE中央学院设计与媒体学院的动画、游戏、音效和音乐专业的行业专业人士和新兴创意人才。
