SINGAPORE - A Singaporean man who was arrested in Bangkok is wanted in Singapore for drug-related offences, said the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Sept 7.

In response to queries, the agency said it is aware of the arrest of a 41-year-old Singaporean man in the Thai capital for suspected drug-related offences.

He is wanted for investigations into suspected drug-related offences in Singapore, said a CNB spokesperson.

Immigration records show that the man departed Singapore in September 2023 and has not returned since, the spokesperson said, adding that CNB will render the required assistance to the Thai authorities to aid their investigation.

The Singaporean man, identified by Thai police as Joel, was arrested on Sept 3 at a condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district, Thai police had said last week.

He was found with crystal methamphethamine, drug paraphernalia, around 200,000 baht (S$7,700) in cash and two mobile phones.

One of the phones contained evidence of him allegedly ordering an unnamed poison worth 18,000 baht from the dark web.

Thai police had conducted investigations into the drug-related offences for over three months.

The man’s arrest was expedited by Thailand’s Metropolitan Police Bureau after intelligence from his associate led to the police suspecting him of using poison to spike a public water tank.

Investigators also found evidence of him allegedly purchasing an unnamed poison off the dark web described by Thai police as “10,000 times stronger than morphine”.

In a video of the arrest released by Thai police, the man can be heard answering questions from the police in English, saying that he had bought the poison for himself.

He also claimed to have been facing stressors after a friend swindled him and his girlfriend abandoned him, the Thai police said.

He was charged by Thai police for narcotics possession and use, and overstaying in Thailand.

Investigations into his possession of explosive chemicals and other dangerous substances are ongoing.

新加坡——中央肃毒局（CNB）9月7日表示，一名在曼谷被捕的新加坡男子因涉嫌毒品犯罪在新加坡被通缉。

针对询问，该机构表示，他们已获悉一名 41 岁的新加坡男子在泰国首都因涉嫌毒品犯罪被捕。

中央肃毒局发言人表示，他因涉嫌在新加坡犯下毒品相关罪行而被通缉。

发言人表示，移民记录显示该男子于2023年9月离开新加坡，此后一直未返回。他还补充说，中央肃毒局将向泰国当局提供必要的协助，以帮助他们进行调查。

泰国警方上周表示，这名新加坡男子名叫乔尔，于9月3日在曼谷邦凯区的一处公寓被捕。

警方在他身上搜出了冰毒、吸毒用具、约 20 万泰铢（约合 7700 新元）现金和两部手机。

其中一部手机里有证据显示，他涉嫌从暗网订购了一种价值 18,000 泰铢的未指明毒药。

泰国警方对这些涉毒犯罪案件进行了三个多月的调查。

泰国首都警察局根据其同伙提供的情报，迅速逮捕了这名男子，因为警方怀疑他使用毒药投毒到公共水箱中。

调查人员还发现证据表明，他涉嫌从暗网购买了一种未具名的毒药，泰国警方称这种毒药“比吗啡强10000倍”。

在泰国警方公布的逮捕视频中，可以听到该男子用英语回答警方的提问，称毒药是他自己买的。

泰国警方称，他还声称自己因朋友诈骗和女友离他而倍感压力。

他被泰国警方指控持有和使用毒品以及在泰国逾期居留。

目前，对他持有爆炸性化学品和其他危险物质的调查仍在进行中。
