Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) expects the Republic's 24-hour Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) to be in the moderate to low unhealthy range.
Air quality in Singapore remained in the moderate range for a second consecutive day on Monday (Sept 7), continuing an improved trend recorded since 9pm on Saturday.
At 10am on Monday, the central region recorded a 24-hour PSI reading of 92, with 1-hour PM2.5 at 27 — in the normal range.
NEA noted in its daily update on Monday that moderate to dense smoke plumes from fires in southern and central Sumatra, as well as West Kalimantan, are continuing to drift towards Singapore.
The agency said that with dry conditions expected to persist over Singapore and southern and central Sumatra, there is a risk of transboundary smoke haze affecting the country, if the fires continue.
The 24-hour PSI forecast for Singapore is therefore in the moderate to low unhealthy range, it added.
Checks on the NEA's haze microsite indicate that all regions in Singapore recorded moderate 24-hour PSI readings.
One-hour PM2.5 reading is in the normal band.
Members of the public should note that the health impact of haze is dependent on one's health status, the PSI level, and the length and intensity of outdoor activity.
Those who are planning to conduct or participate in outdoor activities immediately can check the 1-hour PM2.5 concentration readings and vulnerable persons guide.
Meanwhile, those who are planning outdoor activities for the next day should use the 24-hour PSI forecast and the corresponding health advisories for planning.
