A man has been charged after allegedly sailing a yacht into Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) live-firing zone on Southern Islands — not once, but twice.

Quek Wee Teck, 47, was charged with two counts of contravening the Military Manoeuvers (Firing Ground) Rules after he entered the firing ground in December last year and July this year.

According to charge sheets seen by AsiaOne, he allegedly entered the firing ground unauthorised, sailing his Singapore-registered pleasure craft, Artemis, 1 on Dec 19, 2025 just before 3pm.

The Singaporean then allegedly did so again on July 10, 2026, between 4.30pm and after 5pm.

The Military Manoeuvers (Firing Ground) Rules indicate that no unauthorised persons are allowed at any time to enter or remain within any firing ground.

If found guilty, Quek faces a fine of up to $2,000 and jail for up to six months.

He told the court on Wednesday (Oct 28) that he intends to plead guilty and that he will not be engaging a counsel, CNA reported.

According to Quek's LinkedIn page, he is the chief executive officer of Hydrogen Era Marine, a yacht management and maintenance firm.

He is also the managing director of yacht charter company Wanderlust Adventures and a yacht hobbyist.

Quek, also known as Captain Q on Hydrogen Era Marine's website, is stated to be a "distinguished leader in the maritime industry" and the president of the Association of Boat Charter Singapore.

The website also states that he is a founding member of Marine Stewards Singapore, an organisation dedicated to promoting marine sustainability.

He is set to plead guilty in December, CNA reported.
