KLUANG, Oct 31 — Eight LED display screens belonging to the Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) around the town are believed to have been hacked to show obscene content on Thursday, according to Berita Harian .

Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report on the incident from a 42-year-old local man yesterday.

He said initial investigations found the complainant had been alerted by his staff before receiving several WhatsApp messages containing screenshots and video recordings of the obscene content on the screens.

“Following the incident, the complainant contacted the supplier for confirmation before cutting the power supply to the LED screens to stop the display,” he was quoted as saying.

Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Computer Crimes Act 1997, which covers unauthorised access with intent to commit a further offence, and Section 292 of the Penal Code over obscene materials.

He said police view the incident seriously and a thorough investigation is under way to identify those involved.

The public has been advised not to speculate or spread unverified information that could disrupt investigations.
