Amanah chief Mat Sabu is confident Adly will hold Bukit Katil in Melaka election

MELAKA, Oct 31 — Amanah President Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu is confident that voters in the Bukit Katil state constituency will re-elect incumbent Adly Zahari in the 16th Melaka State Election.

He said his confidence was based on the public reception toward Adly, who is the Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman.

“As of 9.32 am today, everything is proceeding smoothly. There is a large turnout of Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters, and since PAS is also contesting two seats in Melaka, many of their supporters are present here as well.

“However, in terms of public reception, we are confident that Adly will be re-elected by the constituents. That is our hope,” he said when met at Dewan Tun Ali, the nomination centre for the Bukit Katil constituency here today.

Earlier, Mohamad, who is the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, accompanied Adly to the nomination centre, arriving at about 8.40 am.

Also present was Amanah Women’s Wing Chief Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, who is also the Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government.

Commenting on PH’s campaign strategy, Mohamad said the party would focus on the constituencies it is contesting.

He also acknowledged that with both PH and BN in the federal government, it could confuse voters when assessing the government’s achievements.

“The public is somewhat confused because both BN and PH are in the government. So, when BN highlights an achievement, it is an achievement of the government. Likewise, when we highlight an achievement, it is also an achievement of the government.

“It is up to the voters to weigh this for themselves. We will strive to provide clarification. But as I mentioned earlier, a certain level of confusion among the public will likely persist,” he said.

In the 15th Melaka State Election, Adly won the Bukit Katil seat with a majority of 1,057 votes, defeating three other candidates — Datuk Hasnoor Sdg Husin of BN, Muhammad Al Afiz Yahya of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and independent candidate Abdul Hamid.

The Election Commission (EC) has set November 14 as the polling day for the 16th Melaka State Election, while early voting is on November 10.

他表示，他的信心来自于公众对马六甲希望联盟（PH）主席阿德利的接受度。

“截至今天上午9点32分，一切进展顺利。国阵支持者众多，由于伊斯兰党也在马六甲州竞选两个席位，所以他们的许多支持者也到场了。”

“然而，就公众反响而言，我们相信阿德利会再次获得选民的支持。这是我们的希望。”他今天在武吉卡迪尔选区的提名中心敦阿里礼堂接受采访时说道。

早些时候，农业和粮食安全部长穆罕默德陪同阿德利前往提名中心，大约在上午 8 点 40 分到达。

出席者还有诚信党妇女部主席拿督艾曼·阿提拉·萨布，她同时也是房屋及地方政府部副部长。

莫哈末在评论希望联盟的竞选策略时表示，该党将专注于其参选的选区。

他还承认，由于希望联盟和国阵都在联邦政府中，这可能会让选民在评估政府的政绩时感到困惑。

“公众有些困惑，因为国阵和希望联盟都在执政。所以，当国阵强调一项成就时，那就是政府的成就。同样，当我们强调一项成就时，那也是政府的成就。”

“选民们需要自行权衡利弊。我们会努力澄清事实。但正如我之前提到的，公众中可能仍会存在一定程度的困惑，”他说道。

在第15届马六甲州选举中，阿德利以1,057票的多数票赢得武吉卡迪议席，击败其他三名候选人——国阵拿督哈斯努尔、国民联盟（PN）穆罕默德阿尔阿菲兹叶海亚和独立候选人阿都哈密。

选举委员会（EC）已将11月14日定为第16届马六甲州选举的投票日，提前投票日为11月10日。
