MELAKA, Oct 31 — Barisan Nasional (BN) supports the signing of a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) between the government, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), and several independent Members of Parliament, and has proposed extending the agreement to other parties from both the government and opposition blocs.

BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the agreement was a positive development, particularly in addressing the needs and concerns of the people.

“This is a positive development, particularly in terms of addressing the needs and concerns of the people.

“Such a constructive approach was also adopted by the government during the tenure of an Umno representative as Prime Minister,” said the Deputy Prime Minister when asked about the CSA, which was signed last Thursday.

Earlier today, Ahmad Zahid accompanied Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh to the nomination centre for the Tanjung Bidara constituency at the Datuk Kapt (B) Hj Ab Karim Hall in the Tanjung Bidara Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) complex in Alor Gajah.

On Thursday, the Madani government signed a CSA with six Bersatu Members of Parliament, led by the party’s president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and seven other MPs, including Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was reported to have said that the agreement was intended to ensure continuity of government administration, while providing the necessary space to implement the national development agenda effectively, including the 2027 Budget, for the benefit of the people. — Bernama
