KOTA BHARU, Nov 1 — The government will continue to strengthen the development of Islamic education in Kelantan through continuous financial assistance, infrastructure upgrades and the empowerment of traditional educational institutions, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said this commitment is being translated into action through various targeted initiatives to ensure that Islamic educational institutions in the state, particularly religious and pondok schools (traditional Islamic religious schools), operate in a conducive learning environment.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the government allocated RM9.36 million to 23 Islamic educational institutions in Kelantan in 2025, and approved an additional RM6.628 million this year to support 42 other institutions.

“I know my responsibility... while I have the opportunity and authority, I want to do the best I can so that people will perceive this administration, led by Muslims, as fair and wise, and does its best to elevate the dignity of the people and the nation,” he said in his speech at the ‘Sebarkan Salam@Kota Bharu Berselawat’ Programme held at the grounds of Masjid Muhammadi here last night.

Also present were the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, and his deputy, Marhamah Rosli, as well as Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

Anwar said the government had also set aside funds for periodic maintenance and repair works, as well as initiatives to upgrade mosque facilities and provide dialysis treatment support for those in need.

He also announced the approval for the use of robotic surgical technology at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the state for the comfort of patients. — Bernama
