PETALING JAYA: Penang head coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail became the first coach to be relieved of his duties in the Super League this season.

In a statement on Sunday (Nov 1), the club announced that the decision was made following the team’s 2-1 loss to Melaka at the City Stadium in George Town.

“In this regard, Penang technical director, Victor Andrag, will take over the duties as team head coach, effective immediately,” the statement said.

Wan Rohaimi had taken over the reins in November of 2024, but has struggled this season as they sit in second-last in the league with just one win from six matches.

Against Melaka, Penang got ahead after Stefano Brundo scored from a spot-kick in the 62nd minute.

But Melaka replied through Dino Kalesic in the 72nd minute before Abdel Kader Coulibaly converted a penalty in the 90th minute to secure the win.
