TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 66-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a rent collector with a survival knife at his apartment in Nishitokyo City, reports Nippon News Network (Sep. 8).
At around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Katsuji Kondo allegedly attacked a man in his 40s who had visited his apartment in the Hibarigaokakita area to collect unpaid rent. Kondo stabbed the victim in the abdomen multiple times using both a survival knife and a kitchen knife, according to police.
Officers apprehended Kondo at the scene. Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, the suspect admitted to the allegations, police said.
Kondo, who had fallen into arrears on his rent, was scheduled to vacate the property that same day. An altercation broke out between the two men upon the collector’s arrival, quickly escalating into the violent assault.
The victim was conscious while being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

东京（TR）——据日本新闻网（9月8日）报道，东京警视厅逮捕了一名66岁男子，该男子涉嫌在西东京市的公寓内用一把求生刀刺伤了一名收租人，被控谋杀未遂。
周一下午5点30分左右，近藤胜二涉嫌袭击了一名40多岁的男子。该男子当时前往近藤位于云雀丘柿北地区的公寓收取拖欠的房租。据警方称，近藤使用一把求生刀和一把菜刀多次刺伤受害者的腹部。
警方在现场逮捕了近藤。警方称，近藤因涉嫌谋杀未遂被捕后，承认了指控。
近藤拖欠房租，原定于当天搬离住所。催租人到达时，两人发生争执，并迅速升级为暴力袭击。
受害者在被送往当地医院接受治疗的过程中意识清醒。
