GOP Rep. Tom Barrett is running for reelection in a purple district in one of the states whose economy is most intertwined with Canada. Still, he thinks there are some positives to President Trump’s escalating trade war with Canada even if he hopes a little give on either side could thaw the freeze between the two sides. “I want to see us get to a point where we can have mutually beneficial trade arrangements with Canada. I’m still hopeful that we can get there, but that has been my advocacy both publicly and behind the scenes,” Barrett said.
