Over 200 AI courses launched by the new Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) to help Singaporeans develop future-ready skills and receive six-month access to premium AI tools.
SWDA opened Connect by SWDA centre to offer integrated career guidance, learning and employment support for individuals and employers, plus a one-stop portal OurWorkforce for employer training needs.
PM Lawrence Wong highlighted AI's impact on jobs and urged Singaporeans to adapt and learn new skills with government support to seize emerging opportunities amid changing work landscapes.
SINGAPORE – More than 200 artificial intelligence courses were rolled out on Sept 16 under new initiatives to help develop a future-ready workforce and support workers in growing resilient careers.
They cater to different learning needs, from applying AI and enhancing workplace productivity, to developing advanced capabilities for AI-enabled roles and business transformation, the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) said.
From Sept 16, eligible Singapore citizens aged 18 and above who attend any of the curated AI courses will receive a six-month complimentary subscription to selected premium AI tools. These include leading AI tools such as ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, Manus AI, Microsoft 365 Personal and Singtel AI Pass, which allows access to six AI tools.
These measures were announced by SWDA at the SkillsFuture Festival 2026. SWDA was formed by merging SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore, to bring together skills and workforce development, as well as employment support functions, under one agency.
This is the first SkillsFuture Festival under the new entity .
SWDA also launched a new centre called Connect by SWDA, which is located at the Lifelong Learning Institute at Paya Lebar. The centre will provide more integrated support for individuals and employers across their careers, skills and workforce development journeys, SWDA said in a press statement.
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who was the guest of honour at the event, said: “The centre is more than a place for people to sign up for courses. It’s where we bring together learning, career guidance and employment support.
“It’s where job seekers can take stock of where they are, understand where the opportunities lie and get tailored advice on the skills and steps they need to get ahead.”
He added that the centre will also support employers.

Businesses can receive tailored advice on how to transform their workforce, redesign jobs and equip their workers with new skills, PM Wong said.
SWDA also launched a one-stop portal for employers called OurWorkforce. This replaces the current SkillsFuture for Business website and will provide a collective suite of training and workforce development initiatives for employers.
Through the portal, employers can discover relevant training courses and workforce development solutions, and receive customised recommendations based on their business needs, SWDA said.
Employers can also access digital tools to identify opportunities for transformation, redesign jobs and adopt AI effectively.
SWDA also announced AI initiatives to support the workforce in transitioning to AI, which involves the curated catalogue of more than 200 AI courses and a complimentary six-month subscription to selected premium AI tools. The courses are offered by about 30 SWDA-supported training providers.
Acting Minister for Manpower Jasmin Lau told reporters on the sidelines of the festival launch: “AI is becoming part of how we work, and I know many Singaporeans are wondering where to start and how to start.
“What we want to do for everyone is to make it easier for them to learn, to practise and to try out their newly acquired skills on real tasks. That’s how they will build confidence in using AI over time.”
SWDA has also partnered the Singapore Institute of Technology to develop the AI Ready Quiz, an online self-assessment tool that helps people assess their current level of AI readiness across three levels . It consists of 12 questions and takes about 15 minutes to complete.

On completing the quiz, users will receive a personalised AI readiness profile by e-mail, which will also recommend learning resources and curated AI courses to support their continued skills development.
Lau said: “Our hope is that all Singaporeans become a lot more confident in using AI and get more comfortable as work changes.”
She said this confidence can take the form of not feeling lost when employers or colleagues mention AI, or building deeper skills to prepare for emerging jobs.
PM Wong also said in his speech: “AI is advancing rapidly and will reshape work across every part of our economy.
“When we talk about AI and jobs, many people tend to focus on whether, over time, there will be more jobs or fewer jobs. Frankly, no one knows the answer at this stage. Only time will tell. But what we can be sure of is that whatever jobs we have, they will not be the same as today.”
He added that the content of jobs will be different, skills will change and careers will become less linear.
“We cannot stop these changes, nor should we try, because change also brings new opportunities, new businesses and better jobs over time,” he said.
“So our task is to make sure that Singaporeans are not overwhelmed by these changes, but are equipped and ready to seize new opportunities.”
PM Wong said the message to Singaporeans is clear.
“If you are prepared to learn, adapt and make the effort, we will help you build the skills you need and find a pathway forward.”
This probably includes learning new skills and maybe changing jobs, but Singaporeans do not have to “face these challenges alone”, he added.
“That’s what SkillsFuture is fundamentally about. It’s not just more courses and more credits. It’s about confidence – confidence that even as technology advances and our economy changes, you can keep doing better and share in our nation’s progress.”
Other guests at the festival included Senior Minister of State for Education, Sustainability and the Environment Janil Puthucheary and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Manpower Shawn Huang.

黄循财总理表示，企业可以获得量身定制的建议，了解如何转变员工队伍、重新设计工作岗位以及为员工配备新技能。
新加坡技能发展局（SWDA）还推出了一个名为“OurWorkforce”的雇主一站式门户网站。该网站取代了现有的“SkillsFuture for Business”网站，并将为雇主提供一系列综合性的培训和劳动力发展计划。
社会福利发展署表示，通过该门户网站，雇主可以发现相关的培训课程和劳动力发展解决方案，并根据其业务需求获得定制建议。

完成测试后，用户将通过电子邮件收到一份个性化的 AI 准备情况报告，其中还会推荐学习资源和精选的 AI 课程，以支持他们持续的技能发展。
刘先生表示：“我们希望所有新加坡人都能对使用人工智能更有信心，并能更适应工作方式的改变。”
她表示，这种自信可以表现为在雇主或同事提及人工智能时不会感到迷茫，或者培养更深层次的技能来为新兴工作做好准备。
黄之锋总理在讲话中还表示：“人工智能正在快速发展，并将重塑我们经济各个领域的工作。”
“当我们谈论人工智能和就业时，许多人往往关注的是，随着时间的推移，就业岗位是会增加还是减少。坦白说，现阶段没有人知道答案。只有时间才能给出答案。但我们可以肯定的是，无论未来有多少工作岗位，它们都将与今天截然不同。”
他还补充说，工作内容会发生变化，技能会改变，职业生涯将变得不再那么线性。
他说：“我们无法阻止这些变化，也不应该试图阻止，因为随着时间的推移，变化也会带来新的机遇、新的企业和更好的工作。”
“因此，我们的任务是确保新加坡人不会被这些变化压垮，而是做好准备，抓住新的机遇。”
黄英贤总理表示，向新加坡人传达的信息很明确。
“如果你愿意学习、适应并付出努力，我们将帮助你培养所需的技能，并找到前进的道路。”
这可能包括学习新技能，甚至可能换工作，但他补充说，新加坡人不必“独自面对这些挑战”。
“这才是技能创前程计划的根本所在。它不仅仅是更多的课程和学分，更重要的是自信——即使科技进步、经济变革，你也能不断进步，分享国家发展的成果。”
出席此次活动的嘉宾还包括教育、可持续发展和环境部高级政务部长贾尼尔·普图切里和财政及人力部高级政务次长黄晓明。
