From safari to zombies: Everland's day-to-night adventure

Everland’s autumn lineup in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province mixes daytime safari visits with a nighttime zombie experience. Blood City Zero: Hell Gate runs for 72 days until Nov. 22, while the Wild Savannah Expedition offers a walking safari through late November. The park says the day-and-night attractions are meant to create immersive seasonal experiences for visitors of all ages.

Blood City Zero: Hell Gate starts at 4 p.m. every day and uses five themed zones, including Hell Gate, Laboratory Out of Control and Platform of Doom.

The horror zone marks its 10th anniversary and was created with film director Lee Seok-hoon.

More than 10 million visitors have experienced Everland’s horror shows since they began in 2017.

The Wild Savannah Expedition runs through late November at no extra charge and lets visitors see 15 animal species at close range.

Everland opened previously restricted floating bridge paths between Safari World and Lost Valley to expand the walking safari route.

Theme park unveils most immersive autumn lineup yet

By day, people take leisurely strolls through the savannah to observe the wildlife, but the moment the sun dips below the horizon, Korea’s most iconic theme park transforms into an apocalyptic battleground where survival is your only objective.

Following the return of Everland's "walking safari" experience, the park's autumn lineup puts horror front and center with Blood City Zero: Hell Gate, a live-action experience that brings visitors directly into a living nightmare. Operated by Samsung C&T Resort Group, this seasonal spectacle ditches traditional passive viewing in favor of heart-stopping immersion, for a 72-day run ending on Nov. 22.

Escape zombie outbreaks

Celebrating the horror zone's 10th anniversary, Everland joined forces with film director Lee Seok-hoon, known for box-office hits like "The Pirates" (2014) and "Confidential Assignment 2: International" (2022), to translate the visual language and cinematic staging of a blockbuster film to a theme park event.

Starting at 4 p.m. every day, the boundaries between actors and audience completely dissolve as the entire area converts into a performance space. A theatrical pre-show video directed by Lee plays on a massive screen like a cinematic trailer before participants step into the fray.

Visitors are drafted into the narrative as White Z operatives tasked with fighting a terrifying zombie army led by Dark X. With total freedom to choose their path, operatives can explore five distinct themed zones — Hell Gate, Laboratory Out of Control, Circus of Madness, Bloodstained Schoolyard and Platform of Doom — while avoiding 2-meter-tall zombies.

"In filmmaking, it takes months or years to see how an audience reacts. Here at the park, the feedback is instant, alive and constantly evolving," Lee said during a press event held at Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, Tuesday.

He offered one key tip for visitors: "Don't just run or watch from the sidelines. Fully embrace your role as a White Z operative, follow the survival protocols and fight back. Engaging directly with the chaos is what makes it thrilling."

"When a blockbuster like 'Star Wars' debuts in Hollywood, fans turn it into a full-scale festival by coming dressed as their favorite characters. They aren't just watching the movie — they're immersing themselves in the entire universe," Lee noted. "If you fully step into your identity as a White Z operative and follow the survival tactics provided, your level of immersion and satisfaction will skyrocket."

More than 10 million visitors have braved Everland's horror shows since their debut in 2017, solidifying its place as one of Korea’s premier seasonal destinations.

Visitors can go to on-site costume and makeup salons to prepare, fuel up on Dark Energy Black Chicken Curry and "experimental potion" drinks and pick up exclusive gear from vendors inside the venue.

Wild Savannah expedition

For those who prefer a journey under the warm autumn sun, in the daytime Everland offers a less haunting experience through its Wild Savannah Expedition. Running through late November at no extra charge, this interactive walking safari takes people right into the heart of Lost Valley to stand face-to-face with elephants, giraffes and lions.

Building on guest feedback from a monthlong trial of the walking safari concept earlier this spring, Everland upgraded both the route and its attractions. The refreshed experience features autumn photo spots around the giraffe zone and a newly dedicated viewing area for rhinos.

"We have prepared a range of experiences that span across generations like never before this autumn," said Lee Chae-sung, executive vice president of Everland's resort business division.

By opening up previously restricted floating bridge paths between Safari World and Lost Valley, guests can enjoy seeing 15 animal species at close range. Instead of peering through bus windows and hoping for an encounter, visitors can view giraffes, rhinos and apex predators like lions and hyenas on foot and at their own pace.

Along the trail, zookeepers provide captivating ecological storytelling that highlights the unique behaviors of the animals.

"Together with the fascinating insights shared by our zookeepers, guests can enjoy a longer, more unhurried encounter with the wildlife," said zoo director David Chung.

白天，人们悠闲地漫步在稀树草原上，观赏野生动物；但当太阳落山的那一刻，韩国最具标志性的主题公园就变成了末日战场，生存是你唯一的目标。

继爱宝乐园“步行探险”体验回归后，其秋季活动主打恐怖元素，推出真人沉浸式体验项目“血城零：地狱之门”，将游客直接带入一场活生生的噩梦之中。该项目由三星物产度假集团运营，摒弃了传统的被动观看方式，转而采用令人心跳加速的沉浸式体验，为期72天，将于11月22日结束。

逃离僵尸爆发

为庆祝恐怖主题区成立 10 周年，爱宝乐园与曾执导《海盗》（2014 年）和《共助 2：全球追缉》（2022 年）等票房大片的电影导演李锡勋合作，将一部热门电影的视觉语言和电影化的舞台呈现方式转化到主题公园活动中。

每天下午4点开始，演员和观众之间的界限彻底消失，整个场地变成一个表演空间。在参与者正式登台之前，李执导的戏剧化预告片会在巨大的屏幕上播放，如同电影预告片一般。

游客将扮演白Z特工，参与到对抗由黑暗X领导的恐怖僵尸大军的战斗中。特工们可以完全自由地选择自己的道路，探索五个不同的主题区域——地狱之门、失控实验室、疯狂马戏团、血染的校园和末日平台——同时还要躲避2米高的僵尸。

“在电影制作中，需要数月甚至数年才能看到观众的反应。而在这里，在公园里，反馈是即时的、鲜活的，并且不断发展变化，”李在周二于京畿道龙仁市爱宝乐园举行的新闻发布会上说道。

他给游客们提供了一条关键建议：“不要只是逃跑或袖手旁观。要全身心投入到白Z行动中，遵守生存守则，奋起反击。直接参与到混乱之中才是刺激所在。”

“像《星球大战》这样的超级大片在好莱坞上映时，粉丝们会装扮成自己喜欢的角色，把影院变成一个盛大的节日。他们不仅仅是在看电影，而是完全沉浸在整个星战宇宙中，”李指出。“如果你能完全融入白Z特工的身份，并遵循影片提供的生存策略，你的沉浸感和满足感将会飙升。”

游客可以前往现场的服装和化妆沙龙做准备，享用“黑暗能量黑鸡咖喱”和“实验药水”饮料，并从场馆内的供应商处购买独家装备。

野生稀树草原探险

对于那些更喜欢在温暖秋日阳光下旅行的人来说，爱宝乐园白天推出的“野生草原探险之旅”则提供了一种不那么阴森恐怖的体验。这项互动式徒步探险活动将持续到11月下旬，且无需额外付费，带领游客深入迷失谷腹地，与大象、长颈鹿和狮子近距离接触。

今年早春，爱宝乐园对“徒步探险之旅”概念进行了为期一个月的试行，并根据游客的反馈意见，对路线和景点进行了升级。焕然一新的体验在长颈鹿区周围增设了秋季主题拍照点，并新增了犀牛观赏区。

“今年秋季，我们准备了一系列前所未有的、跨越几代人的体验活动，”爱宝乐园度假村业务部执行副总裁李彩星表示。

通过开放之前不对外开放的野生动物园和失落谷之间的浮桥通道，游客可以近距离观赏15种动物。游客无需再透过巴士车窗翘首以盼，而是可以步行，按照自己的节奏，观赏长颈鹿、犀牛以及狮子和鬣狗等顶级掠食者。

沿着小径，动物园管理员会进行引人入胜的生态故事讲述，重点介绍动物们的独特行为。

“结合我们饲养员分享的精彩见解，游客可以享受更长时间、更悠闲的与野生动物的接触，”动物园园长戴维·钟说道。
