Soldier charged with kicking five-year-old daughter at Kelantan eatery

In Kota Bharu, a soldier named Mohamed Nisa Mohamed Nasir, aged 40, was charged in Sessions Court with abusing his five-year-old daughter by kicking her at an eatery on September 11, 2026.

He pleaded not guilty to charges under the Child Act 2001, which carries a potential fine of up to RM50,000 or a maximum 20-year imprisonment, or both.

Despite the prosecution's concerns about possible interference with the victim, the court granted bail at RM10,000 with conditions, including regular police reporting and the surrender of his passport.

KOTA BHARU, Sept 17 — A soldier was charged in the Sessions Court here today with abusing his five-year-old daughter by kicking her at an eatery in Jalan Kuala Krai last Friday.

Mohamed Nisa Mohamed Nasir, 40, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

According to the charge, the accused allegedly kicked the girl at an eatery at Lot 143, Batu 2, Jalan Kuala Krai, here at 10.55pm on September 11, 2026.

The accused was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which is punishable under Section 31(1) of the same Act.

If convicted, he faces a fine of up to RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to 20 years, or both.

Earlier, the prosecution did not offer bail, citing concerns that the accused could interfere with the victim, who is also his biological daughter.

However, the defence requested bail, saying the accused had served in the military for 19 years and has three children.

The court was also told that his wife is unemployed and requires haemodialysis treatment, and that she relies on him to accompany her for regular hospital visits.

The defence also said the accused has no previous record of domestic violence offences or complaints and is not a flight risk as he is subject to the control of his military unit.

The court granted him bail of RM10,000 with one local surety, subject to several conditions, including that he must not interfere with any prosecution witnesses, particularly the victim.

He was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court, if he has one, and report to the Pengkalan Chepa Police Station or the nearest police station every two weeks until the case is concluded.

法庭准予他以10000令吉的保释金保释，并需一名当地担保人，但须遵守若干条件，包括不得干扰任何控方证人，尤其是受害者。

他还被命令将护照（如果有的话）交出法庭，并每两周到彭加兰芝巴警察局或最近的警察局报到，直到案件结束。
