Critics of Anwar should back their words with action, says PKR Youth chief

PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim criticized detractors of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, asserting that despite claims of political instability, the government remains focused on ensuring political and economic stability for the people's benefit.

Addressing confusion over calls for an early general election, Kamil emphasized the government's commitment to implementing policies beneficial to the nation, while identifying certain political figures as destabilizing influences.

His remarks followed statements from Umno's president highlighting the party's crucial support for Anwar's administration and advocating for an earlier election.

IPOH, Sept 17 — PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim has hit out at those criticising Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, saying some were quick to make political statements but lacked the courage to follow through with their actions.

He said while there were political statements suggesting that the country was currently unstable, the government remained committed to ensuring political stability as a foundation for economic stability and, ultimately, the benefit of the people.

“Our priority is to ensure political stability because from there, we can ensure economic stability, which will ultimately benefit the people,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after presenting allocations to non-governmental organisations in the Prime Minister’s Tambun parliamentary constituency at the Penghulu Mukim Hulu Kinta Office here.

Muhammad Kamil, who is also Anwar’s political secretary, said he did not deny that certain groups were deliberately attempting to create political instability to serve the interests and demands of certain leaders within their respective parties.

“Today, what we can assure the people is that the current government, particularly the Prime Minister, is committed to ensuring that all policies and plans can be implemented and that the government works for the good and benefit of the people as a whole,” he said.

He said this remained the case despite some statements appearing to attack Anwar personally.

“Some people are brave enough to talk, but they are not brave enough to act.

“So, we need to assess which leaders are working and which leaders are merely playing politics. I think the people can make a good assessment of that,” he said.

Muhammad Kamil also said there appeared to be confusion among the public when some political figures called for the 16th general election (GE16) to be held soon while at the same time saying they would remain in the government until the end of its term.

“That is something you have to ask that person. In the morning they say one thing, and at night they say another. They are confusing people,” he said.

Muhammad Kamil was responding to recent remarks made during the Umno general assembly, where party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi challenged Anwar to remove Umno from the unity government and face a confidence vote in Parliament.

Ahmad Zahid was also reported to have reminded coalition partners that Anwar’s administration remained in power with Umno’s support.

“The Prime Minister is the prime minister because of Umno’s support,” Ahmad Zahid was quoted as saying.

Ahmad Zahid was also reported to have backed calls for an earlier general election during the assembly.

“有些人有勇气说话，却没有勇气行动。”

“所以，我们需要评估哪些领导人是在真正为人民服务，哪些领导人只是在玩弄政治。我认为人民能够做出很好的判断，”他说。

穆罕默德·卡米尔还表示，一些政治人物一方面呼吁尽快举行第 16 届大选（GE16），另一方面又表示他们将继续留在政府直至任期结束，这似乎引起了公众的困惑。

“这个问题你得去问当事人。他们早上说一套，晚上又说一套。他们把人搞糊涂了。”他说。

穆罕默德·卡米尔的回应是针对巫统大会上最近发表的言论，当时巫统主席拿督斯里·阿末·扎希·哈米迪向安华发出挑战，要求他将巫统从联合政府中除名，并在国会接受信任投票。

据报道，艾哈迈德·扎希德还提醒联盟伙伴，安华政府在巫统的支持下仍然执政。
