Mechanic shot at Bukit Mertajam workshop by two motorcyclists

A 43-year-old mechanic was shot at a workshop in Bukit Mertajam by two men on a motorcycle.

The victim sustained a hand injury, fled the scene, and reported the incident to police.

Police, confirming the incident, are investigating the shooting motive and suspect pursuit is ongoing.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — A 43-year-old mechanic was injured after being shot at a car workshop in Jalan Sungai Lembu in Bukit Mertajam yesterday afternoon.

According to Harian Metro , at least three shots were fired at the man at about 1.45pm after two men on a motorcycle approached him at the workshop.

The victim suffered an injury to his right palm before running about 50 metres from the workshop and jumping over a fence opposite a Chinese cemetery to escape.

He reportedly lodged a police report at Kulim Police Station in Kedah before being sent to hospital for further treatment.

Penang police chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng confirmed the incident when contacted.

“Efforts to track down the suspects are under way,” he said.

Police and forensic personnel earlier found bullets and spent casings at the scene.

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting and said the victim has a previous criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.

据报道，他在被送往医院接受进一步治疗之前，已在吉打州居林警察局报案。

槟城警察局长拿督林光庆在联系时证实了这一事件。

他说：“我们正在全力追捕嫌疑人。”

警方和法医人员早些时候在现场发现了子弹和弹壳。

警方正在调查枪击案的动机，并表示受害者有犯罪前科。

该案件正在根据《刑法》第307条进行调查。
