Woman killed, son injured in crash at Selangau-Mukah junction in Sarawak

A 41-year-old woman, Patricia Gula Lumun, died in a car accident at the Selangau-Mukah junction flyover.

Her 19-year-old son was injured in the crash and taken to hospital after being freed by the public.

Firefighters extricated the woman using rescue equipment, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

SELANGAU, Sept 20 — A 41-year-old woman was killed after the car she was travelling in was involved in an accident at the Selangau-Mukah junction flyover yesterday.

The victim, identified as Patricia Gula Lumun, was trapped inside the vehicle following the accident at about 5pm.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 Sibu chief Andy Alie said the Selangau fire station received an emergency call at 5.01pm and arrived at the scene three minutes later.

He said the woman’s 19-year-old son, who was also in the vehicle, was injured and had been freed by members of the public before the firefighters arrived.

“The male victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment, while the mother remained trapped inside the vehicle.

“Our personnel used rescue equipment to extricate the woman from the vehicle,” he said in a statement.

Andy said the woman was successfully removed from the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.

Her remains were subsequently handed over to the police for further action.

Seven personnel from the Selangau fire station, led by Bomba Senior Officer I Nurfaiz Abdullah, were involved in the operation, which concluded at 5.40pm. — The Borneo Post

“男性受害者随后被送往医院接受治疗，而母亲则被困在车内。

他在一份声明中说：“我们的工作人员使用救援设备将这名女子从车里救了出来。”

安迪说，这名女子被成功从车里救出，但经卫生部工作人员现场宣布已死亡。

随后，她的遗体被移交给警方作进一步处理。
