Man arrested within 12 hours of Beach Road hotel room break-in

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (Sept 20) evening for his alleged involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft at a hotel on Beach Road.

Police said on Monday that they were alerted to the case at about 7.30am, where cash amounting to about $150 was purportedly stolen.

AsiaOne understands that the man had allegedly broken into a room in the hotel.

Officers from Central Police Division identified and arrested the man within 12 hours of the report through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the police said.

The man will be charged in court on Tuesday with the offence of housebreaking and theft.

If found guilty of the said offence, he could be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.

The police advised members of the public to keep their cash, identity documents and other valuables in the room safe or another secure location.

They should immediately alert hotel staff and the police if any suspicious person or activity is observed.
