Hannah Yeoh: Loke’s resignation offer was DAP CEC’s final decision, must be respected

During a press conference, DAP deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh confirmed that the Central Executive Committee (CEC) decided on the resignation offer of DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke from his role as Transport Minister, following discussions about the party's stance on a conditional pardon for former Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The CEC, being the party's highest decision-making body, made this decision after a comprehensive deliberation, which is to be respected.

Loke's resignation will only affect his Cabinet position, while other DAP ministers will retain their roles to maintain political stability.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 21 — DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s offer to resign as Transport Minister was the final decision of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) and must be respected.

DAP CEC deputy secretary-general Hannah Yeoh said the CEC meeting last Saturday also heard various proposals and views before the decision was made.

“The CEC held a lengthy meeting, and various proposals and views were put forward. The final decision, the CEC’s decision; this is the highest decision-making body, was that YB Anthony Loke offered to resign.

“That was the CEC’s decision. I do not want to disclose the other discussions as they were part of the CEC deliberations, but we have to respect the decision made by the CEC,” she said at a press conference on the 2026 Deepavali Bazaar here today.

Hannah said this in response to the DAP CEC’s decision following its meeting on the party’s stance on the issue of a conditional pardon for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Last Saturday, Loke offered to resign as Transport Minister following DAP’s stance on the conditional pardon granted to Najib.

Loke said the resignation would only involve him as a member of the Cabinet, while the other DAP ministers and deputy ministers would remain in the government to ensure continued political stability in the country. — Bernama
