Trump reaffirms commitment to dialogue with N. Korea during summit with Lee: Seoul

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump held summit talks Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly and discussed a number of pending issues, a South Korean official said.

The 30-minute summit included discussions on Seoul's pursuit of nuclear-powered submarines, rights to enrich uranium and reprocess spent nuclear fuel, and the transfer of wartime operational control of Korean troops from Washington, as well as cooperation in shipbuilding, National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac told reporters.

During the summit, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue with North Korea, and the two leaders welcomed progress in bilateral strategic projects, Wi said.

一位韩国官员表示，韩国总统李在明和美国总统唐纳德·特朗普周二在联合国大会期间举行了峰会会谈，讨论了一系列悬而未决的问题。

韩国国家安全顾问魏圣乐告诉记者，此次30分钟的峰会讨论了首尔发展核动力潜艇、浓缩铀和后处理乏核燃料的权利、从华盛顿移交韩国军队战时作战指挥权以及造船合作等问题。

魏表示，峰会期间，特朗普重申了他与朝鲜对话的承诺，两位领导人对双边战略项目取得的进展表示欢迎。
