Woman, 57, found dead in Ang Mo Kio flat after neighbour reports foul smell

A woman was found dead in her Ang Mo Kio HDB flat after her neighbour noticed a foul smell and flies outside her unit.

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police said that they received a call for assistance at Block 464 Ang Mo Kio Avenue at around 10.50am on Tuesday (Sept 22).

A 57-year-old woman was found lying motionless in a residential unit and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zhuo (transliterated), a resident at the estate, told Chinese publication Lianhe Zaobao that the woman had been living alone in a 3-bedroom unit for over 10 years, and that the last time he saw her was about a week ago.

Zhuo and his family noticed a strong smell wafting towards his unit around two to three days ago, and initially believed it to be a dead rat.

Police investigations are ongoing, but the police do not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations.

居住在该小区的卓（音译）告诉中国媒体《联合早报》，这名女子独自居住在三居室单元房内已有十多年，他最后一次见到她是在大约一周前。

大约两三天前，卓和他的家人注意到一股强烈的气味飘向他的房子，起初他们以为是死老鼠的味道。

警方调查仍在进行中，但根据初步调查，警方不怀疑存在谋杀或其他犯罪行为。
