Ella Langley's country ballad "Choosin' Texas" has set a new record by topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 23 consecutive weeks, surpassing Mariah Carey's Christmas classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Released in October, the track achieved this milestone through a combination of streaming, radio play, and sales data, as reported by Billboard.

In response to this achievement, Langley expressed gratitude and highlighted the significant impact the success has had on her life and the lives of those involved with the song.

WASHINGTON, Sept 23 — Country ballad Choosin’ Texas from singer Ella Langley yesterday broke the record for most weeks topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, unseating a famed Christmas song by Mariah Carey.

The track was released in October and has been number one for 23 weeks in a ranking that includes streaming, radio play, sales and data, the magazine said, adding that its figures are tabulated by the company Luminate.

Langley, 27, thus surpasses American legend Carey’s Christmas anthem All I Want for Christmas Is You .

In a video posted to Instagram yesterday, the Alabama native said she planned to celebrate the win.

“It’s changing my life. It’s changing lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing lives of my family,” Langley said. — AFP
