A 22-year-old man, Muhammad Mukhris Sulaiman, has been charged with secretly filming four women in a factory toilet in Penang and possessing obscene videos.

He faces five charges under Sections 509 and 292 of the Penal Code, carrying potential penalties of imprisonment and fines.

Mukhris pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM15,000, with the condition not to contact the alleged victims.

The case will be revisited in court on November 19 for document submission.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — A 22-year-old man has been charged with secretly filming four women while they were urinating in a toilet at a factory in Penang, as well as possessing obscene videos.

Berita Harian reported that Muhammad Mukhris Sulaiman pleaded not guilty to all five charges and claimed trial after they were read out before Magistrate Sharifah Razali at the Magistrate’s Court in Bukit Mertajam today.

For the first four charges, Muhammad Mukhris is accused of filming the women at a factory in Bukit Minyak, in the Central Seberang Perai district, between 11.44am and 6.55pm from September 2 to September 23.

The charges were brought under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which covers acts intended to insult a person’s modesty and carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Muhammad Mukhris was also charged with possessing several obscene videos during an inspection at the Seberang Perai Tengah district police headquarters compound at 9.30am on September 24.

That charge was framed under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Amalina Harun appeared for the prosecution, while Muhammad Mukhris was represented by lawyer V Sivakumar.

The court granted him bail of RM15,000 for all five charges and ordered him not to approach the alleged victims until the conclusion of the trial.

The case is due to be mentioned again on November 19 for the submission of documents.
