Justice Hoo Sheau Peng appointed Court of Appeal judge, Deputy AG Goh Yihan appointed judge of Appellate Division

High Court judge Justice Hoo Sheau Peng will be appointed as Justice of the Court of Appeal, while deputy attorney-general Goh Yihan will be appointed judge of the Appellate Division.

Both appointments, made by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, will take effect from Oct 1, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said on Friday (Sept 25).

Justice Hoo was appointed judicial commissioner on Sept 30, 2014, and later became High Court judge on Sept 30, 2017.

She has heard criminal, family and public law cases, and also dealt with a range of civil matters, on areas such as company, insolvency, trusts and intellectual property, PMO said.

It added that Justice Hoo has been the judge-in-charge of the High Court's general division, assisting in its administration.

Senior Counsel Goh Yihan was appointed judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court in July 2022, and later judge of the High Court in Oct 2023.

He was appointed to his current role in January 2025, and oversees the work of the civil division at the Attorney-General's Chambers and the advocacy group.

Goh also oversees the work of the crime division's international legal cooperation team.

Following their appointments, the Supreme Court will have a total of 32 judges, including Chief Justice, four justices of the Court of Appeal, five judges of the Appellate Division, 16 judges of the High Court, one judicial commissioner, and five senior judges.

高等法院法官胡秀萍将出任上诉法院法官，而副检察长吴怡涵将出任上诉庭法官。

总理公署（PMO）周五（9月25日）表示，这两项任命均由总统尚达曼做出，将于10月1日起生效。

胡法官于2014年9月30日被任命为司法专员，后于2017年9月30日成为高等法院法官。

总理办公室表示，她审理过刑事案件、家庭案件和公共法律案件，也处理过一系列民事案件，例如公司法、破产法、信托法和知识产权法等领域。

声明还补充说，胡法官一直担任高等法院普通庭的主管法官，协助该庭的行政管理工作。

资深大律师吴义汉于 2022 年 7 月被任命为最高法院司法专员，并于 2023 年 10 月被任命为高等法院法官。

他于 2025 年 1 月被任命为现任职务，负责监督总检察长办公室民事部门和倡导团体的工作。

吴先生还负责监督刑事部门国际法律合作团队的工作。

任命完成后，最高法院将共有 32 名法官，其中包括首席大法官、4 名上诉法院法官、5 名上诉庭法官、16 名高等法院法官、1 名司法专员和 5 名资深法官。
