Kusu pilgrimage begins on Oct 10, visitors encouraged to visit on weekdays: SLA

The annual Kusu pilgrimage will take place from Oct 10 to Nov 8, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) said in an advisory on Friday (Sept 25).

The authority also encouraged visitors to visit Kusu Island on weekdays to avoid weekend crowds.

Visitors are advised to wear comfortable attire and shoes, and should note that overnight stays and bringing pets to Kusu Island are not permitted, SLA added.

Home to the popular Da Bo Gong (Great Earth God) Temple and the keramat built to commemorate the 19th century pious man Syed Abdul Rahman, his mother Nenek Ghalib and sister Puteri Fatimah, devotees visit Kusu Island every year during the ninth lunar month.

During the pilgrimage season, the set of stairs leading up to and down from the keramat will be open.

Siong Leng Musical Association, a traditional arts organisation that promotes southern Chinese music, will hold its annual heritage performance from 5pm to 10pm at the temple on Nov 7.

Visitors who wish to visit the island during the pilgrimage season are required to purchase a ferry ticket from Singapore Island Cruise & Ferry Services — the appointed ferry operator.

The ferry service departs from Marina South Pier.

Visitors should note that the Kusu Island bumboat jetty for harbour craft has been temporarily closed since April 24 and should not be used.

斯里兰卡土地管理局补充说，建议游客穿着舒适的服装和鞋子，并注意龟屿岛不允许过夜住宿和携带宠物。

龟屿岛有著名的大地神庙，还有为纪念 19 世纪虔诚的赛义德·阿卜杜勒·拉赫曼、他的母亲内内克·加利卜和妹妹普特里·法蒂玛而建的克拉玛特，每年农历九月，信徒们都会前往龟屿岛朝拜。

在朝圣季节期间，通往圣殿的台阶将会开放。

崇岭音乐协会是一个推广中国南方音乐的传统艺术组织，将于11月7日下午5点至晚上10点在寺庙举行一年一度的文化遗产演出。

朝圣季期间，游客如欲前往该岛，须向指定的渡轮运营商新加坡岛屿游轮及渡轮服务公司购买渡轮船票。
