MACC completes Kedah fertiliser probe, two may face charges soon

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has concluded its probe into the delay of fertiliser supplies in Kedah, with two individuals facing imminent charges under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for misappropriation and false documentation.

This development stems from complaints by the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation regarding disruptions affecting a 100,000-hectare area managed by the Muda Agricultural Development Authority.

The case is pending referral to the Attorney General for potential court proceedings.

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 25 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has completed its investigation into the delayed supply of fertilisers in Kedah, with two individuals set to be charged soon in connection with the case.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the charges will be brought under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which pertains to misappropriation and false documents.

“The MACC investigation into the issue of fertiliser distribution to farmers and paddy planters in Kedah has been completed.

“We will refer the case to the Attorney General, and if consent is granted regarding our recommendation, the charges will likely be registered in court next week or the week after,” he told a press conference after the closing ceremony of the 5th National Governance, Integrity, and Anti-Corruption Research Conference 2026 here today.

Abd Halim, however, did not reveal the identities of the individuals to be charged.

On September 7, the MACC opened an investigation paper into the delayed distribution of Additional Compound Fertiliser, or Paddy Fertiliser 3, to Kedah paddy farmers. The investigation followed a complaint lodged by the Malaysian Paddy Farmers Brotherhood Organisation (PeSAWAH) on August 26.
