The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in combating corruption and misconduct through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

This partnership aims to strengthen strategic cooperation in enforcement, corruption prevention, and integrity empowerment in the digital realm.

The MoU outlines a coordinated approach that involves sharing expertise and expanding knowledge, skills development, and capacity building.

This initiative is expected to bolster public confidence and accountability within Malaysia's communications and multimedia ecosystem.

CYBERJAYA, Oct 2 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect, prevent and manage the risks of abuse of power and misappropriation more systematically and effectively.

In a statement today, MCMC said this was among the areas of collaboration agreed upon by the two agencies through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen strategic cooperation in enforcement, corruption prevention and integrity empowerment in addressing complex challenges in the digital environment.

The exchange of the MoU between MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman took place at the MCMC headquarters here today.

The MoU outlines a more coordinated cross-agency approach through the sharing of expertise in enforcement, investigation, digital technology, information management and corruption prevention, including best practices in governance, integrity and risk management.

“Both agencies will also expand collaboration in knowledge and skills development through advocacy programmes, training, knowledge sharing and capacity building, while leveraging technology, including AI.

“Related initiatives can be extended to the industry and relevant stakeholders,” it said.

The MCMC said the effort was expected to enhance the preparedness of both agencies in tackling increasingly complex corruption and misconduct risks, while supporting accountability and effective public service delivery.

“In line with its role as the driver of the nation’s communications and multimedia ecosystem, the MCMC will continue to play a facilitating role in expanding inter-agency synergy towards a more transparent, ethical and responsible work culture.

“This will concurrently boost the confidence of the people, industry and investors in public institutions and the nation’s communications and multimedia ecosystem,” it added. — Bernama
