Cambodia reattaches two ancient deity statue heads at Angkor Thom's gate in Angkor complex

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia's APSARA National Authority (ANA) has reattached the heads of two ancient deity statues at Angkor Thom's Victory Gate, located within the Unesco-listed Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, according to an ANA news release on Friday (Oct 2).

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia's APSARA National Authority (ANA) has reattached the heads of two ancient deity statues at Angkor Thom's Victory Gate, located within the Unesco-listed Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, according to an ANA news release on Friday (Oct 2).

The traditional ritual, part of the Returning Spirits to Their Original Sites campaign, took place on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona and Unesco Representative to Cambodia Flavio Bonetti, alongside Buddhist monks who were invited to chant and bless the statues.
