Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, a 16-year-old student, was tragically found unconscious and covered in blood at a school hall in Yong Peng and pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple injuries.

Her funeral took place at Kampung Parit Arshad Muslim Cemetery with over 100 individuals attending to pay their respects.

A 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing under Section 302 of the Penal Code to determine the motive and circumstances of the case.

BATU PAHAT, Oct 5 — Sixteen-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, who was killed in an incident at a school in Yong Peng, was laid to rest at the Kampung Parit Arshad Muslim Cemetery here at about 7.50pm yesterday.

Earlier, her remains were brought to her grandmother’s home in Kampung Parit Selamat, Yong Peng, at about 6.30pm following a post-mortem at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital here.

More than 100 family members, relatives, school friends, teachers and locals were at the cemetery to pay their final respects.

The teenager was found unconscious and covered in blood in a school hall in Yong Peng at about 5.50pm yesterday.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the victim suffered multiple injuries to the head and body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was detained in the Yong Peng area at about 7pm the same day and remanded for six days until Oct 9 to assist investigations.

Police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, while the motive and circumstances remain under investigation. — Bernama
