On October 2, Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung submitted his resignation, which was received by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul and announced in Parliament by Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor.

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker has notified the Election Commission of the vacancy as required by the Federal Constitution.

Additionally, a Parliamentary Service Council is set to be established following the implementation of the Parliamentary Service Act 2025.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul received the resignation letter submitted by Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung on Oct 2, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ramli Mohd Nor said this at the start of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament this morning.

“The Dewan Rakyat Speaker has informed the Election Commission of the vacancy in the parliamentary seat, in accordance with Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution,” he said.

On Oct 2, Lee announced his unconditional resignation as an MP.

Meanwhile, Ramli said a Parliamentary Service Council would be established to oversee matters relating to parliamentary services following the Parliamentary Service Act 2025 coming into effect on Oct 1. — Bernama
