The Ministry of Health Malaysia has offered 3,025 new trainees places in the pre-service programme for the October 2026 intake.

Of these, 97.9 per cent are for diploma programmes and 2.1 per cent for the Dental Surgery Assistant Certificate.

The intake aims to develop a competent healthcare workforce with a focus on patient safety, professionalism, and service quality.

PUTRAJAYA, 5 Okt (Bernama) -- Some 3,025 new trainees have been offered places in the pre-service programme at the Ministry of Health Malaysia Training Institutes (ILKKM) for the October 2026 intake.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said 2,995 of the 3,025 offers were made through the Public Services Commission (SPA), while 30 were for statutory bodies, representing 90.7 per cent of its total quota of 3,335 places.

Of the total places offered, 2,961, or 97.9 per cent, were for 10 diploma-level programmes requiring three years of study, while the remaining 64 places, or 2.1 per cent, were for the two-year Dental Surgery Assistant Certificate programme, it said.

"The Diploma in Nursing programme has the highest intake quota for this session, with 1,818 candidates offered places,” the statement said.

MOH said the intake reflects its continued commitment to developing human capital and producing a competent healthcare workforce over the next two to three years to meet the nation’s healthcare needs.

The statement said trainees would be guided through theoretical learning, practical training and clinical exposure to master professional skills, prioritise patient safety and deliver quality services rooted in empathy.

"Throughout their studies, trainees will also be guided to uphold values such as integrity, discipline, professionalism, teamwork, loyalty to the nation and the principles of public service.

"The development of knowledge, skills and character is crucial to producing a dedicated healthcare workforce that understands its responsibility to safeguard the well-being of the community,” MOH said.

The ministry added that graduates who successfully complete their training could serve in various healthcare disciplines, including nursing, medical and health services, pharmacy, diagnostics, rehabilitation and dentistry. — Bernama
