Thai DPM Sihasak to undertake two‑day working visit to Malaysia from Sept 6

Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, will visit Malaysia from Sunday to Tuesday to advance discussions held during the Thai Prime Minister's visit in July.

Sihasak will be accompanied by senior officials to meet Malaysia's Foreign Minister, focusing on border security and joint development projects.

The talks aim to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and security, benefiting economic development and providing greater advantages to people on both sides of the border.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 — Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, is scheduled to pay a two-day working visit to Malaysia from Sunday to September 7, according to the PR Thai Government.

In its Facebook post on Friday, it noted that the visit would follow up on and advance the issues discussed by the leaders of the two countries during the Thai Prime Minister’s official visit to Malaysia on July 9 to 10.

Sihasak will be accompanied by the Director of the National Intelligence Agency and Chief of the Peace Dialogue Panel for the Southern Border Provinces, Thanat Suwannanon.

The delegation is scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to discuss border security and joint development of border areas.

“Talks will focus on infrastructure development, improved road and rail connectivity and the construction of additional sections of the border fence to prevent and suppress illegal cross-border activities.

“The cooperation is expected to enhance security and connectivity between the two countries while supporting economic development in border areas and delivering greater benefits to people on both sides,” it added. — Bernama
