A Haji Lane retailer has accused two secondary school students of stealing cameras from his shop, but a male teen allegedly implicated in the case has denied the allegation and lodged a police report.

Digicam Diaries SG took to TikTok on Sunday (Oct 4) to allege that a pair were involved in the incident.

In the posts, which have since been deleted, the retailer shared a 12-second clip showing the two students entering the shop and walking towards a shelf of cameras.

The girl is then seen picking up a camera with her back to the CCTV camera.

The clip then cuts to "before" and "after" stills of the shelf, with the retailer alleging that two cameras were missing.

The retailer initially alleged that the two individuals had been identified as secondary school students and claimed that the girl had admitted to stealing the cameras, and also said payment had subsequently been made for the cameras, after which the video was removed.

But the boy denied that they had stolen the cameras and made a police report, according to the retailer's posts.

The police confirmed to AsiaOne that a report was lodged by the retailer and that investigations are ongoing.

As investigations are ongoing, it is not clear from the information available why the payment was made.

In a subsequent update on Monday (Oct 5), the retailer said it had removed the video while the case was under investigation.

The retailer also alleged that the girl had attempted to delete evidence relating to the incident but said it had retained screenshots, adding that it would continue pursuing the matter, saying the students had been "very dishonest" in how they dealt with the situation.
