The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme offered by the National University of Singapore (NUS) business school rose 14 places to rank ninth in the 2026 Financial Times (FT) Executive MBA rankings on Monday (Oct 12).

According to FT, its ranking features 100 of the world's top global business school programmes for senior leaders.

Participation in the ranking is voluntary and at the business school’s request.

Among the key ranking criteria are two surveys completed by the schools and their alumni.

In turn, alumni responses have six ranking criteria: salary today; salary increase; career progress; work experience; aims achieved; and the alumni network category, measuring the quality of networks, rated by surveyed graduates.

NUS' EMBA programme was ranked 23rd last year.

This is the university's first entry into the global top 10 since it began participating in the annual FT ranking in 2008.

NUS, Singapore's only autonomous university in the global top 10, said on Monday that strong alumni outcomes had contributed to the programme's rise, noting that NUS EMBA alumni reported an average salary of US$542,224 (S$693,713), compared with US$372,278 last year.

This was also the third-highest average salary among programmes in the top 10, while alumni also reported salaries 83 per cent higher before their EMBA.

Meanwhile, NUS' business school also rose 22 places to sixth globally for research.

Professor Teo Chung Piaw, dean of NUS business school, highlighted that the EMBA is designed to prepare senior leaders to navigate complexity, lead across markets and make sound decisions in a rapidly changing business environment.

"Our focus is on developing the judgement, perspective and adaptability that leaders need to create impact across Asia and beyond."

He added that the ranking is a welcome recognition of the programme's progress.

The university also said its business school is exploring how technology can enhance business teaching and learning while strengthening human judgement and critical thinking.

"Since January 2026, the school has been piloting an artificial intelligence-enabled business simulation in which MBA and EMBA students interview AI-simulated executives, assess competing perspectives and make decisions under uncertainty," a university spokesperson said.
