Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has been getting a taste of Singapore's food scene, with an Instagram post showing him tucking into a whole roasted duck with his bare hands.

The American mixed martial artist captioned the footage: "Yellow fever got me on the Singapore street food. They don't believe in napkins here."

Rockhold was seen twisting off the roasted duck's head before chewing meat from its neck in an Instagram post uploaded on Sunday (Oct 11).

He then dipped the meat into a bright red chilli sauce and continued his hands-on approach to the meal without using cutlery, while other diners looked on in the background.

It is unclear whether this is Rockhold's first time trying roast duck.

The video had garnered more than 400,000 views and over 4,900 likes as at Monday afternoon.

In an IG Story uploaded on the same day, Rockhold was also seen attending the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix .

It is unclear whether this is his first visit to Singapore or whether he has tried other local dishes during his stay.

Rockhold won the UFC middleweight title in December 2015, knocking out Chris Weidman in the fourth round. He lost the title to Michael Bisping by first-round knockout in June 2016.

'Napkins are for kids': Netizens react to Rockhold's duck feast

Rockhold's video drew a range of reactions from netizens, with some joking about his hands-on approach to the meal while others recommended more local dishes for him to try.

A commenter asked: "You ever had duck sausage?", to which Rockhold replied: "My fav[vourite]".

Another quipped: "Napkins are for kids", while a third suggested that he try "some BBQ stingray".

Others offered some advice on how the dish is typically enjoyed in Singapore.

"You are supposed to have it with rice and share it with several people. No one eats it like this," one commenter wrote.

Another welcomed Rockhold to Singapore, explaining: "So cool you’re here in Singapore champ. Actually, most restaurants do provide napkins, just usually they refer to tissues or serviettes. Hawker stalls on the other hand, sell them."
