WASHINGTON — General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has a new leader, with company veteran Amy Johnson announced today as incoming president.

Johnson replaces longtime president Amy Gilliland, who was let go from the company earlier this month after almost a decade of leading the business unit. Paul Nedzbala has been serving as acting president in the interim.

“Amy has a proven track record of leading teams to solve complex and highly technical challenges for our customers,” said Phebe Novakovic, the outgoing CEO of General Dynamics , in the announcement. “I am confident that her dynamic leadership, operational rigor and deep commitment to our values and culture will deliver value to our customers, employees and shareholders.”

According to the press release, Johnson is a 27-year veteran of General Dynamics Mission Systems. She was most recently vice president and general manager for Space, Cyber and Intelligence, and has background experience “across cybersecurity, defense electronics, space and intelligence systems.”

Johnson will begin her role as president on Nov. 3.

One of the biggest players in federal IT, GDIT provides critical cyber, software and networking tools to both the military and civilian sector agencies ranging from enterprise to tactical edge applications. The capabilities enable secure communications, full-spectrum cyber operations and monitoring of threats to networks.
