JASIN, Nov 2 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has lodged a police report against Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the 16th Melaka state election, Datuk Khaidirah Abu Zahar, over allegations that she campaigned using government premises and machinery.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Central Leadership Council (MPP) member Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail said the police report against the incumbent for Rim state constituency was filed by a PH representative at the Jasin district police headquarters (IPD) today.

Aishah alleged that Khaidirah committed this act while attending an event where contributions were presented to approximately 30 recipients in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration with photographic evidence and recordings related to the incident have been submitted to the police.

“We have submitted evidence that (Khaidirah) misused the Rim Japerun Complex to host the event a venue that should no longer be used for politically-oriented programmes once the State Legislative Assembly has been dissolved, even though the building previously served as her office when she was the elected representative here.

“We also discovered that the food baskets she distributed bore the label ‘MPJ’ (Jasin Municipal Council), indicating that these were government-funded contributions,” she said during a press conference at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) main operations room for the Rim constituency in Jasin today.

Aishah said they also possess evidence showing several MPJ officials wearing attire that displayed the face of the Jasin Umno vice-chief throughout the contribution distribution event.

She added that all evidence regarding this matter would be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) tomorrow, and urged for an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation, as well as a proper explanation to be provided to the public.

“We do not dispute the people’s right to receive aid, especially with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations. Providing assistance to the public is a responsibility that must be fulfilled regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.

“However, we view the involvement of a Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in this programme very seriously, as it raises significant questions regarding the potential use of government machinery, premises, and facilities to grant an unfair advantage to a specific candidate during an ongoing election,” she said.

In this Melaka state election, PH has fielded Esma Eazreen Husin, the Jasin PKR Wanita wing Chief to contest the Rim seat in a one-on-one showdown against Khaidirah.

The Election Commission has set November 14 as polling day for the Melaka state election, with early voting scheduled for November 10. For the latest news on the 16th Melaka state election, visit https://election.bernama.com/prn/melaka/2026/ — Bernama
