JJ Chan is a Barrister-at-Law of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn, London, an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, an Adjunct Professor of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, and Managing Partner of CBE (Chan Ban Eng & Co). He specialises in corporate and directors' liability, insurance/reinsurance and medical negligence, and writes on constitutional and public-interest matters.
Malaysia Day marks more than the formation of a federation. It recalls a promise that different regions, peoples, faiths and histories could build a common home, and that none would have to become less themselves in order to belong.
