Ramanan: PM discussed Budget 2027 with Indian community leaders and NGOs

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — Education, economic opportunities, welfare and socioeconomic development were among the key issues discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indian community leaders yesterday.

Human Resources Minister R. Ramanan said the second session of the meeting brought together leaders from nine chambers of commerce and 14 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to discuss community perspectives, including inputs for Budget 2027.

He said the meeting represented the government’s ongoing effort to directly listen to and understand the views, aspirations and challenges faced by the Indian community.

“Every view, concern and suggestion was heard directly by the prime minister. This approach is essential to ensure policies and initiatives taking shape truly reflect ground realities and community needs,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Ramanan noted that the open, honest and constructive session was not the end of discussions, but part of a continuous engagement process.

“What was raised will be given appropriate attention and follow-up so that these discussions yield tangible benefits for the community,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to the community leaders present for representing their respective organisations, reflecting the broader aspirations, needs and hopes of the Indian community as a whole.

He added that the government would continue to move forward with the people by listening, understanding and implementing the development agenda.
